The Quadrature Climate Foundation (QCF) was established as an independent charity in 2019 by the founders of Quadrature Capital, committing a portion of annual profits to fighting the climate emergency.
We aim to tackle the global climate emergency.
Our species, environment and planet face an unprecedented global threat that will permanently change the course of our future. People are becoming more aware of the risks climate change brings, but collectively we haven’t yet responded with enough urgency. Greenhouse gases continue to build up in the atmosphere and global average temperatures are increasing. We are committed to helping change this situation.
We provide philanthropic funding for people and organisations working to deliver the conditions for rapid change.
A huge number of solutions already exist, but we need the collective will to implement them. We believe a lot of brilliant initiatives can be built upon, but we are also keen to take whichever new paths we find that offer the best chances of success.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting Grantees to help us develop a world class grant making process that combats the climate emergency.
As a Grant Manager you will work closely with QCF’s COO to help build our granting operations in order to support the team in its goal of urgently shifting the current global climate trajectory. This role is a unique opportunity to make a real impact by pre-empting problems and suggesting improvements to current granting processes to make them more efficient and resilient, particularly as QCF’s grant-making activities grow.
This is a newly created role as part of a small team so instead of being limited in remit, your role will be varied and evolve over time. It will span all aspects of the grantee lifecycle - from grant administration through to finance and compliance responsibilities - and make impactful contributions through:
- Ensuring key milestones and timelines are captured for each grant - including financial plans, payment and reporting schedules.
- Designing and administering a grant reporting structure to provide oversight of grants throughout the entire grant lifecycle. This will include taking responsibility for relevant compliance policies and controls.
- Liaising with key stakeholders to ensure the smooth delivery of grants. This may include contractors, Quadrature Capital employees, grantees and senior management.
- Creating and improving any tools or systems needed to support the grant portfolio, with a particular focus on how these can scale as the portfolio grows.
We are looking for a pragmatic and positive problem solver, who likes forming the link between a foundation and its Grantees.
This role allows you to get really close to our operations, leveraging tools and solutions to make them more efficient. Therefore an understanding of grant management systems, and a few years of experience building and improving operational processes is essential. You will work closely with the finance and legal teams at Quadrature Capital, so knowledge of grant management finance and any prior experience of regulatory frameworks will help you make an impact from the outset.
Attitude and mindset are important to us. Due to the nature of this role, you will need to be detail-oriented whilst also appreciating the broader grant lifecycle. This role has the opportunity to not only create, but continually improve processes, particularly in respect to our reporting structures. Therefore an analytical mindset and an ability to be creative when coming up with solutions will be useful.
The climate emergency must be addressed with urgency, and in this operations-focussed role you will need a delivery mindset; applying quality thinking and research, but remaining focused on making progress and delivering impact. We are a small team so you will need to be a self-starter, using initiative and curiosity to quickly understand the foundations’ activities and independently solve problems.
