Job description

Job Title: Independent Living Mentor x 2

Roles: 1 x Full Time role (substantive)
1 x Full Time (fixed for 12 months from
commencement, looking to obtain further funding)

Salary: £22,178.00

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, over 5 days. Will involve weekend and evening work on a rota basis so a 7 day offer of support can be achieved (1 weekend per fortnight).

Holidays: 22 Days plus Bank Holidays

Base: Will be expected to work in the Emergency Accommodation setting for Wigan and Leigh.

Responsible to: ILM Team Lead

Accountable to: Queen’s Hall Action on Poverty Trustees

We provide RELIEF, RESTORATION and REFORMATION by offering tailored support, hope, and opportunity to those looking to improve their quality of life. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join the charity in an exciting and rewarding role. Your role will be to prioritise and ensure restoration through assertive and proactive support with individuals within an emergency accommodation setting. You will be providing a service to some of the most vulnerable individuals within the community and ensure an offer of quality service is provided which is highly effective and responsive. You will need to be committed and forward thinking to ensure that no one is left behind and unmotivated.


To provide individual and bespoke support to vulnerable individuals within the Wigan and Leigh offer of emergency accommodation within a time frame. You will ensure support will be carried out in an asset based approach ensuring that accurate advice and information is provided to give individuals the necessary information required to make informed decisions. The information you provide will guide individuals in making choices that will lead to suitable and quick offers of long term accommodation. Tailored support will then be brokered to ensure a continuous offer of support is provided within the community to maintain sustainable tenancies and welfare support offers. During support, the ILM will ensure that people have access to relevant services, advocacy and wellbeing support.
