Railway Paths Limited (RPL) is a registered charity that owns and manages a portfolio of former railway land and structures to provide routes and paths suitable for cycling, walking, horse riding and wheel-chair use. Established in 1998, our work includes keeping our estate in a safe and serviceable condition and deriving income from it to finance the ongoing management of the estate. Critically, we work with partners to bring our estate back into use. We have a close relationship with Sustrans and this includes sharing office space and corporate services such as finance, HR and IT.
We have reached a point in the organisation’s life where we need to develop and implement a revised strategy to ensure the successful delivery of our charitable objectives and secure the charity’s legacy. In the newly created post of Director, you will report to the Board of Trustees and your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing outstanding leadership and guidance to our committed team of professional staff
- Working closely with the Board of Trustees to set out our vision for the next chapter of RPL and to develop and implement a revised strategy
- Managing the relationships with our key stakeholders and partners, including government departments
- Maintaining a high level of organisational governance, compliance, performance and financial management
The successful candidate will have a strong track record of leading an organisation through significant change and transition, of working with multi-disciplinary teams, of setting strategic direction and working collaboratively with stakeholders. You may bring experience of the charitable sector and close working relationships with senior government officials. You will act as an ambassador for Railway Paths Limited and champion the impact of our work.
Candidates can be based anywhere in the UK, ideally with good access to Birmingham and Manchester. We offer a range of flexible working practices.
Railway Paths Limited is committed to reducing inequality, valuing diversity and enabling inclusion. We welcome applications from people with the appropriate skills from all parts of the community.
Please note that given the current social distancing measures, we are planning that all aspects of this recruitment will be undertaken remotely, using telephone and videoconferencing for interviews.
