Communications Manager
Rainbow Migration, the leading UK charity dedicated to providing support to vulnerable LGBTQI+ people who are seeking asylum in the UK, is recruiting a Communications Manager to lead and deliver our external communications.
Rainbow Migration has been supporting LGBTQI+ people through the asylum and immigration system and campaigning for their rights since 1993. We are now in an exciting period of growth as we continue developing our new brand and approach our 30th anniversary. We are looking for a candidate with skills in a variety of communications disciplines to develop our communications strategy and increase our profile to encourage people to access our services, address the challenges facing LGBTQI+ people in need of refugee protection, and increase support for our work.
You will:
- Develop and deliver an effective communications strategy
- Maintain and develop our new website and brand
- Manage Rainbow Migration’s presence on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and other social media platforms
- Manage engagement with the media
- Train and support colleagues and service users to do media interviews and speak to policymakers.

Contract type: Permanent
Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week). We will consider part-time or job share. Please state in your application what hours you are looking to work. Occasional evening work is required, and possibly at weekends, but with plenty of notice. Rainbow Migration encourages staff to maintain a good work life balance and has a TOIL system in place.
Salary: £34,910 plus statutory employer’s pension contribution with potential annual step increases up to £38,892 (pro rata if working part time), plus statutory employer’s pension contribution. In addition to an annual step increase, the trustees consider giving a separate inflationary increase every April.
Location: Rainbow Migration’s offices are based in Borough, Central London, and this role would normally be office-based. At the time of posting this advert, all Rainbow Migration staff are working from home due to Covid-19. A mix of working at home and/or the office is likely for the foreseeable future. You must be available to work from our offices in London when we re-open. There might be occasional travel outside London with plenty of notice.
Annual leave: 25 days per year pro rata rising after 24 months by 1 day after each year of service to maximum of 28 days per year (pro rata if working part-time).
