Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity is going through an exciting time where we are rebuilding and growing!

Following a difficult year, we are pleased to be in a position to begin growing our care teams so that we can continue to deliver a high-quality family support service to more families in need. Our strategic plan is to rebuild and then continue to grow, so this is a perfect time to join us as we are opening two new Care teams this year in Liverpool and Reading.


About the role:

We are looking to appoint a Head of Engagement to lead our marketing and communications strategy and plans, and act as deputy to the Director of Fundraising and Engagement.

This is an exciting time for a talented marketing and communications professional, with fundraising or sales experience, to join Rainbow Trust. We are an ambitious charity with a clear vision for growth and a strong sense of values. Reporting to the Director of Fundraising and Engagement, you will take the lead on devising and implementing Rainbow Trust’s engagement and acquisition strategy to raise the profile of Rainbow Trust amongst key external audiences to engage, recruit and develop supporters to generate income to agreed targets.

You will lead, manage and co-ordinate marketing, communication and associated fundraising activities to:

  • Develop the supporter insight programme to inform strategy and plans
  • Create, manage and promote a portfolio of campaigns, activities and events to engage and inspire, acquire and retain supporters
  • Raise awareness of Rainbow Trust, what we do and the impact we have
  • Help develop a digital culture and skills including oversee the data strategy and CRM roadmap to ensure a data-led approach to fundraising and marketing activity


What we’re looking for:

  • An experienced people focussed manager – you have a motivational leadership style and engage the commitment of others
  • Poised and outgoing – you are enthusiastic, with a collaborative approach to achieving goals through knowledge-sharing and effective delegation. You are excellent at building rapport and developing good working relationships
  • A multi-tasker with a sense of urgency for goal achievement – you delegate effectively with thorough follow-up, and are quick to learn
  • An innovative, practical and creative problem-solver – you are a big picture thinker that responds quickly to varied activities and changing conditions. You will have significant management experience with strategic and operational planning responsibility and a solid background in brand strategy.
  • Confident use of Content Management Systems– you have an imaginative and creative working style
  • Ideally educated to degree level (or equivalent) you probably hold a professional marketing qualification and have a thorough understanding of up-to-date marketing & communications techniques, trends and practices.
