VOLUNTEERS WANTED!!!

We are a NEW start-up uniformed youth development organisation looking to make a difference in the lives of young people aged 13 to 25 years old across England (starting in London and then growing outwards). Our mission is to prepare young people for life, by giving them new opportunities and experiences to learn and discover themselves and the world around them, while boosting their confidence, skills for life and resilience.

Cadets meet up at weekly unit cadet meet ups which take place one night per week usually held between 7pm and 9pm in which Cadets (young people) take part in fun, challenging and rewarding activities that are aimed to boost confidence and self-esteem and grow skills and gain different opportunities and experiences. Cadets also get to complete missions, challenges, and activities to earn badges for their uniform, gain accreditations in a wide range of topics and feel a sense of belonging and achievement. We aim to ensure young people are “Prepared for Life”.

As well as attending weekly cadet meet ups, Cadets take part in weekend public duties supporting their local community at events and local fates, as well as attending camps, residentials, trips and other youth development activities aimed to build positive futures for young people.

We are opening our first cadet unit in the City of London (in Bank) and are looking for a volunteer who can run and manage the weekly cadet unit.

We are currently looking for an Adult Volunteer for the position of Staff Sergeant to assist the Officer in Charge as the Second in Charge of our new City of London cadet unit at Ranger Cadets, where you will be responsible for the overall management of your Ranger Cadets, Cadet Unit. You will do this by leading weekly meetings, ensuring that the weekly meet ups are planned, organised, structured, and delivered in a fun and interactive way, supporting and teaching Cadets in activities that will benefit them and their lives and guide them in completing missions to earn badges for their uniform.

At Ranger Cadets we are about giving young people access to new opportunities and experiences, while giving them the tools and skills to prepare them for life.

As well as the youth side you will need to manage the weekly cadet unit activities, including organising other youth development activities and public duties at local events, keeping and maintaining unit management records and actively participating in the recruitment, training, management and retention of the young people (cadets) and adult volunteers in your unit. You will ensure that they all have a positive and rewarding experience while at Ranger Cadets, by equipping them with the necessary skills and tools to fulfil our vision.

The role requires approx. 6 hours per week (includes unit meetings on the same evening each week from 7pm to 9:30pm at the unit and the extra 3.5 hours are for meetings, planning and organising weekly cadet units, paperwork and area and organisational based activities as and when required).

You MUST be willing to wear the Ranger Cadets uniform and the rank insignia assigned to the position that you have applied for.

The successful candidates will attend unit meetings the same evening each week from 7pm to 9:30pm, where you will engage with local young people taking part in the cadet programme.

We want to hear from you if you are:

  • Reliable, Punctual and Trustworthy.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to plan, organise and deliver activities for cadets (young people).

  • Interested in staying with us for at least 8-12 months.
  • Passionate about working with young people and all that it brings.
  • Willing to wear the Ranger Cadets uniform and assigned rank.

You should be confident about working with young people and willing to take an active role in running the meetings. You will need a good level of spoken English. You must be aged 18 or over, and you will need to complete an application form and a DBS police check. You must also be willing to wear the Ranger Cadets uniform and rank when required if coming onboard as a uniformed volunteer.
