Job description

Re-engage organises free social gatherings - tea parties and other gatherings and outings - for people aged over 75 who live alone and experience loneliness. Groups meet monthly and friendships are formed. As the population ages, the need for our service will grow significantly.   

About the role 

We are looking for leaders who will work together across the UK in a role that will be part of shaping the culture and work of Re-engage to eradicate loneliness and isolation for older people and deliver a first class volunteer experience. You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating our services which are mostly volunteer- led. You will achieve this by inspiring and coaching your regional teams to forge funding and development partnerships in their local settings that will ensure our local programmes are funded and delivering the greatest impact for the people we serve.    

About you 
You will need excellent team leadership/management and effective communication and interpersonal skills to manage the service in a large area and oversee the development of our work for the future.  You will also have:  

  • Knowledge of the region and national, regional, and local referral partners and funders. 

  • Demonstrable experience of managing operational matters at senior level in line with excellent knowledge of best practice, budget management, and strategic planning.  

  • Excellent people management, able to drive the best performance from teams and individuals  

  • The ability to manage processes in a timely and effective manner, negotiating strong outcomes, problem solving and developing excellent working relationships  

  • The ability to plan effectively and in a timely fashion, prioritising where to spend time and resources so that deadlines and targets can be met   

  • The ability to determine effective and persuasive strategies, in daily work, as well as in contributing to the wider direction of the charity  

  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills, able to analyse situations and focus on achieving solutions or ways forward  

  • The capability to collect, analyse and use data to drive and improve services 

  • A demonstrable ability to communicate effectively at all levels both internally and externally  

  • Proven ability to prioritise, work on own initiative, and deliver desired results  

  • Ability to deal well with deadlines and conflicting priorities  

  • Use of own car (insured for business use) and a clean driving license are required.

This role is home-based, but we expect our Head of Engagement to be based in or within a reasonable commute of a major population centre  

You will be part of our UK-wide management team of four, currently led by the Chief Executive. 

This is a permanent role after satisfactory completion of probationary period 

Start April/May 2020 but we are happy to be flexible for the right candidate. 

Salary: from £33,000  

Holidays 26 days per year plus public holidays pro rata.
