Up to £24,500 per annum (pro rata & dependent on experience)
Contract, Part-time
Job description

Volunteer and Community Engagement Co-ordinator (Part Time, 12 Month FTC)
Derby, Derbyshire

About Us

Rebuild East Midlands is an innovative charity that supports people who have experienced the trauma and pain caused by human trafficking and modern slavery.

We support rebuilding lives and re-joining the community, we empower and assist and we help survivors overcome barriers they may face.

Our aim is to enable the people we support to embrace a hope filled future free from the reality and fear of slavery.

We’re now looking for a Volunteer and Community Engagement Co-ordinator to support both our volunteer strategy and the community aspects of our work on a part time basis for a 12 month fixed term contract.

The Benefits

- Salary of up to £24,500 per annum (pro rata & dependent on experience)
- 28 days’ holiday per annum plus Bank Holidays (pro rata)
- Personal and professional development plan
- Regular supervision
- Pension contribution of 5%

This is an exciting opportunity to positively affect lives that have been damaged by horrific experiences, in-human practices and the worst side of humanity. With tens of millions of children and adults forced into slavery and trafficking every year and only 1% estimated to be freed or able to escape, it is vital that those who get away are supported as much as they require to re-enter society.

Your role will be the vital aspect that ensures communities are welcoming, that there are activities to help with re-integration and there are volunteers on hand to provide the hands-on support at every step.

We’ve got a strong mission to empower, build resilience, help individuals find a sense of belonging, feel understood, learn and become as determined as we are to integrate, recover and grow. If this sounds like the type of mission you could thrive in, we want to hear from you.

The Role

As a Volunteer and Community Engagement Co-ordinator, you will take on a dual role working with both the volunteer strategy and within the community aspects of Rebuild’s work.

Within the volunteering element of your role, you will recruit, train, match and support volunteers to assist individuals who have experienced human trafficking and modern slavery.

The community aspects of your role will include working with local communities, groups, volunteers and organisations to promote inclusion, networking and building partnerships, and organising and promoting activities to promote social inclusion.

About You

To be considered as a Volunteer and Community Engagement Co-ordinator, you will need at least two years’ experience working with either:

- Individuals who have experienced human trafficking and modern slavery OR
- Vulnerable adults in the community

Your will also need:

- Previous experience in managing, training and supervising volunteers
- Previous experience of co-ordinating, planning and running group work and activities for vulnerable individuals
- Previous experience of networking and building working partnerships with external agencies
- An empathetic and compassionate outlook, whilst being able to maintain professional boundaries with those you work with
- The ability to react effectively to highly pressured situations

A community work or other appropriate professional qualification would be beneficial to your application. Due to the nature of travel within the role, a driving licence would also be an advantage.

Other organisations may call this role Volunteer Co-ordinator, Community Engagement Co-ordinator, Social Inclusion Co-ordinator, Community Outreach Co-ordinator, Vulnerable People Co-ordinator, Community Engagement Officer, or Social Inclusion Officer.

The closing date for this role is the 6th July 2020.

This is a part time role working 28 hour per week
