  • Passionate about building a country where working-class people are heard, celebrated for our strength and diversity and aren’t held back by our backgrounds?

We may have the job for you.

RECLAIM is a youth leadership and social change organisation. We are a small but bold charity, using our experience and platform to support and amplify the voices of working class young people.

Our long term goal is to create a Britain where those of us from working-class backgrounds are proud of – and not held back by – our roots. We want working-class people to be represented in places where decisions are made about their lives and to be recognised for their talent, strength, and diversity. We want to see working-class young people at the heart of this, in a country that ensures that they are seen, heard, and leading change.

Through our work we run programmes to support young people to recognise and develop their leadership skills. We support them to lead campaigns on issues they care about. Recent campaigns include:

  • We supported young people to successfully campaign for free bus travel for all 16-18 year olds across Greater Manchester. A policy which now benefits 40,000 young people, making 250,000 free journeys per week and saving them and their families an average of over £500 per young person per year.

  • We helped young people highlight and challenge the increasing use of violent and dehumanising language in politics. The campaign gained widespread media coverage and resulted in new commitments from the Speaker, Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition.

  • We supported young people across Manchester to have their voices heard on the impact of violent crime and how current responses don’t leave them feeling safe.

  • We are working with young people in a school to support them, and their teachers, to create a learning environment that better works for young working-class people.

  • Young people we support have been at the forefront of highlighting the impact of COVID19 on working-class communities and demanding better recognition of the essential workers keeping the country going during lockdown.

  • Social media and website:

    • Keep our social media pages - Twitter and Instagram - active with inspiring content to engage supporters and the general public in RECLAIM’s work.

    • Work with our young people to create engaging and shareable content that tells the story of their campaigns

  • Keeping the RECLAIM project websites updated with news and events

  • Keep supporters up-to-date:

    • Keep supporters updated on our work and campaigns, helping to send email newsletters to our signed up supporters.

    • Work with the management and fundraising team to create imaginative ways supporters can take action to support our campaigns.

  • Communications support:

    • Support young people and the wider team to answer media requests.

    • Track mentions of RECLAIM’s work in the media.

    • Pitch in as a team to support events, big moments and campaign launches.
