We may have the job for you.
RECLAIM is a youth leadership and social change organisation. We are a small but bold charity, using our experience and platform to support and amplify the voices of working class young people.
Our long term goal is to create a Britain where those of us from working-class backgrounds are proud of – and not held back by – our roots. We want working-class people to be represented in places where decisions are made about their lives and to be recognised for their talent, strength, and diversity. We want to see working-class young people at the heart of this, in a country that ensures that they are seen, heard, and leading change.
Through our work we run programmes to support young people to recognise and develop their leadership skills. We support them to lead campaigns on issues they care about.
Recent work includes:
We supported young people to successfully campaign for free bus travel for all 16-18 year olds across Greater Manchester. A policy which now benefits 40,000 young people, making 250,000 free journeys per week and saving them and their families an average of over £500 per young person per year.
We helped young people highlight and challenge the increasing use of violent and dehumanising language in politics. The campaign gained widespread media coverage and resulted in new commitments from the Speaker, Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition.
We supported young people across Manchester to have their voices heard on the impact of violent crime and how current responses don’t leave them feeling safe.
We are working with young people in a school to support them, and their teachers, to create a learning environment that better works for young working-class people.
Young people we support have been at the forefront of highlighting the impact of COVID19 on working-class communities and demanding better recognition of the essential workers keeping the country going during lockdown.
Supporting the Programme Manager by feeding into the development, delivery and implementation of different programmes, campaigns and mentoring schemes.
Using existing and bespoke evaluation tools and methods to judge the success of the programme and working to improve RECLAIM’s work with young people.
Ensuring our work is in compliance with all relevant health and safety laws and RECLAIM’s policies on safeguarding.
Developing and delivering innovative one-to-one, small group and large group work with young people to promote their development according to RECLAIM’s mission, including sourcing materials and facilitators, as well as coordinating/supporting volunteers and mentors where appropriate.
Developing close links with appropriate individuals, organisations, and statutory bodies in the communities in which RECLAIM works to create a conducive environment for RECLAIM’s work with young people.
