As the Head of Trusts and Foundations, you will lead their impressive trusts, foundations, and statutory income streams which generates over £3 million annually. We’re seeking a driven, tenacious individual with a track record of securing 6- and 7-figure gifts to lead the growth-focused team.
You will work closely with the Delivery Directorate who lead on grant management and reporting. With a fundraising-positive approach from the department, you will work collaboratively with them to identify funding opportunities and to deliver excellent stewardship.
As Head of Trusts and Foundations, you will:
- Lead on the planning and delivery of the trusts, foundations and statutory strategy to grow both restricted and unrestricted income
- Develop and oversee a portfolio and pipeline of high value trusts, foundations and statutory funders
- Write compelling funding proposals to engage new donors to give at the 6- and 7-figure level to ensure long term growth and sustainability
- Work collaboratively with the delivery teams to ensure effective grant management, stewardship and reporting for funders
- Work closely with the delivery teams to develop new projects and cases for support, and refine existing projects to meet the emerging needs of beneficiaries
- Develop engagement opportunities for prospective and warm funders to bring them closer to London Youth’s mission
- Provide management and direction for the team – including two Trusts and Foundations Managers
Ideal skills and experience:
- Proven success of securing 6 and 7-figure gifts from a range of trusts, foundations and statutory funders
- Superb writing skills to convey need and impact across bids, applications, cases for support and pitches
- Demonstrable experience of growing income streams
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, and able to influence/persuade a wide range of stakeholders

Purpose of role

Primary responsibilities
Leadership and Strategy
· Work with the Executive Director to bring strategic assessment, planning, institutional positioning, and fundraising issues forward to the Board of Directors.

· Work with the Executive Director and CFO to develop and build new revenue streams.
· Provides guidance to the team on the monitoring system to review key performance indicators and ensure effective and efficient management.
· Present strategic evaluations, planning, institutional positioning, and fundraising concerns to the Executive Director.
· Nurture strong connections with donors while spearheading the team in fostering strategic partnerships and alliances.
· Enhance the proficiency of both staff and the Board to actively participate in fundraising endeavors.

Institutional Communications
· Guides communications team in developing a cutting-edge brand and identity rooted in intersectional feminism, anti-racism, and anti-colonialism, ensuring clear and cohesive communication both internally and externally.
· Oversee the strategy to advance the identity, position and brand of the organization through communications, marketing, institutional partnerships, and other mechanisms. This includes visual brand strategy including overseeing the design maintenance of the organizational website, publications, and social media.

About the role
As the Director of Fundraising and Communications, you will be responsible for the oversight and management of London special events, challenge and community fundraising, trusts and foundations, legacies, individual giving, Patrons, PR, and web. You will work closely with the senior management team, staff teams across the UK, Crew (committee members), Trustees, and Volunteers to deliver Variety's mission "to fund and deliver life-changing programmes that give children and young people across the UK a better future."

About You
As the Director of Fundraising and Communications, you will be pivotal in achieving that ambition. You will lead the fundraising team, excel at relationships fundraising, and have strong leadership and communication skills with multi-income stream experience and expertise. You will develop the charity's fundraising income, manage and grow the fundraising and communications team, and be a key member of the senior management team. It is important to highlight that this is a hands-on role because of the small team, and you will need to be prepared to be actively involved in all aspects of fundraising and communications.
To be successful in this role, you will have significant experience in a senior fundraising role, experience of fundraising and management across a diverse range of income streams, particularly in the area of Corporate and Major Donor fundraising, and the ability to develop and implement strategic fundraising plans. We are looking for a proactive and highly capable Finance Director to join our small organisation and provide 360 degree support to the Chief Executive Officer. The organisation has gone through a period of modernisation and we are looking for someone who will continue to seek to improve and streamline processes and find more agile ways of working.
This position is responsible for the full finance function and responsibilities include:
- Overall responsibility for the development and successful delivery of the Finance function;
- Leading on financial planning, preparing annual budgets and quarterly management accounts;
- Preparing year end SORP accounts and liaising with the auditors; producing the Annual Report and Financial Statements; reporting to Finance, Audit and Risk Committee, Investment Committee and the Board of Trustees;
- Liaising with investment managers to obtain regular reports of performance and undertaking new investment movement analysis;
- Ensuring the Foundation’s policies are kept up to date and compliant;
- Communicating complex financial information and influencing and building rapport with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with experience of the UK charity or not for profit sector, advanced knowledge of SORP and charity VAT. You will have led a strategic finance function, produced statutory accounts, management accounts, financial reports and analysis. You will have demonstrable commercial acumen, a strong understanding of business and strategic issues, and the ability to appropriately challenge and advise budget holders. You will have excellent communication skills and a passion for helping us achieve our vision.
