About the Role
As Senior Major Gifts Manager, you will support both the organisations vision and the Development Department's strategy, to grow philanthropic income. Reporting to the Head of Major and Principal Gifts and line managing the Major Gifts Officer, you will nurture relationships with donors, develop the prospect pipeline and secure major gifts (£10k - £250k per annum ) from high-net-worth individuals. You will also act as the primary Development liaison with the Events team, jointly overseeing our cultivation and stewardship events.

About You
To be successful as Senior Major Gifts Manager you will have had
*
Experience of working in fundraising within the arts, higher education or third sectors and a demonstrable understanding of best practice in donor cultivation and stewardship.
*Experience of securing five and six-figure gifts from high net-worth individuals.
*Experience of working to targets, developing donor solicitation and stewardship plans.
*Experience or a good understanding of working for a performing arts organisation or in the broader arts and cultural space.
*Ability to understand of prospect research and network mapping

- Lead the major donor team, ensuring the programme is in a strong position

The Prince of Wales Hospice is passionate about providing specialist care for adults with a terminal diagnosis, and also those around them. The hospice offers a 13-bedroom ward for patients who need round the clock care as well as a Wellbeing and Outreach service – in total the Prince of Wales Hospice cares for over 300 people a year! Despite costing £11,000 a day to run the hospice and £4m a year, all of the services are entirely free of charge to patients and their families so the hospice is largely dependent on fundraised income.

The Role

This is the BBC’s International charity that use media and communications to help empower people in some of the world’s most deprived and vulnerable countries. Their projects and programmes save lives, protect livelihoods and counter misinformation and create a massive impact globally.
With a focus on securing unrestricted, or semi-restricted income for the charity, you will build and foster positive relationships with philanthropic donors, providing excellent stewardship to existing and new, high net worth individuals. You will develop a strong pipeline of major gift prospects using various methods to identify warm and cold opportunities. You will work collaboratively, to achieve ambitious targets and drive incredible change globally – joining in a very exciting time for BBC Media Action.
To be successful in this Philanthropy role, you will need to demonstrate a history of securing five and six figure gifts with amazing donor stewardship. You will be a devoted relationship builder with strong presentation skills that will inspire and engage diverse audiences.
This is a permanent role with a salary of £43.5k – £45k and will require hybrid working from their offices in London.

The NSPCC’s mission is to end cruelty to children. Every childhood is worth fighting for. This is what drives their fundraising team to get out there and bring in the funds needed to protect children and prevent abuse.
Through Speak out Stay Safe, a primary school safeguarding programme, NSPCC reached 1.2m children in 2022/23 and helped many more through their other services, which include a helpline, community events and campaigning for policy and practice changes. The charity also developed new services to help families, campaigned to change laws, shared information about abuse and how to recognise it, and developed new tools for children, parents and professionals.
The Philanthropy Individuals team focus on high level, infividual donors and are responsible for securing 4- to 7-figure plus gifts. The team consists of 12 fundraisers, who collectively raise £3.5M a year. Reporting to the Head of Philanthropy, the Senior Philanthropy Manager – Northwest will potentially manage one membver of this team.
You will also be responsible for maximising the long term relationships of all new and existing individual donors capable of gifts ranging from £5k to £1M+, driving new business with the support of your line-/dotted-line support.
As Senior Philanthropy Manager – Northwest, you will:
- Identify, develop and cultivate major donors up to 7-figure level, supporting a team income target of c.£700k
- Grow your own portfolio of major donors with focus on £100k+ prospects
- Play a leading role across North West to raise the profile of engagement with major donors
- Develop and deliver strategies to improve relationships with supporters and prospects to increase income for NSPCC
Ideal skills and experience:
- Experience raising income from major donors at 5- and 6-figure level
- Leadership, management and team-building skills
- Strategic thinking and ability to develop fundraising strategies
- Line management experience desirable
