Job description

Redwings is a national animal welfare charity responsible for over 2,000 rescued horses, ponies and donkeys across the UK.

Working for Redwings means you can make a real difference in the lives of those horses in our care and thousands like them. And it means you will be part of a supportive and progressive workplace that puts the welfare of its horses and its people at the heart of everything.

Senior Press Officer (Fixed term)

South of Norwich

Flexible working arrangements, with some required time at Redwings sites around the UK

Full-time fixed term position for 12 months (with potential for extension)

37.5 hrs per week (with some social media and press out of hours work)

We are seeking an experienced press officer to cover our media relations work for a fixed period of 12 months. Reporting to the Head of Communications and Campaigns, you will be charged with managing all press and media enquiries, writing press releases and feature articles, pitching story ideas and producing original and engaging copy to promote the work of Redwings across a range of outlets, printed and digital.

You will be expected to manage press visits and photo calls, acting as one of the official spokespeople for the organisation and assisting with out of hours enquiries and social media work as required.

This is a rare opportunity to work for a highly respected animal welfare charity. You will be an experienced press officer with a passion for Redwings and a strong desire to work in the animal or equine welfare sector. You will be super organised and able to work independently but also play an active and enthusiastic role in the wider Communications and Campaigns team, and the organisation as a whole.
