Job description

WHAT WE DO -

We are a non-profit organisation based in London which supports refugees and asylum seekers all over the UK to access higher education, requalification and employment. Our core three programmes work together to support our clients on their journey from arriving in the UK into meaningful employment.

LANGUAGE PROGRAMME -

The current English language provision in the UK remains underfunded and difficult to access, without access to structured language tuition refugees find themselves isolated, unable to advocate for themselves or begin to integrate into the UK. In response RefuAid in 2017 launched the language programme with its first partner school and student, since then the language programme has grown to partner with over 100 private English schools and have supported over 650 students to complete the programme. RefuAid provides scholarship places at these private English language schools throughout the UK to improve their English and take English language exams. This tuition and the exams provide the necessary qualification to enter university, skilled employment or requalify in their previous profession.

LOAN PROGRAMME -

In September 2017 RefuAid launched the first (and only) nationwide loan scheme for refugees. The loan scheme provides support to those who have been granted refugee status and have full rights to work. We offer interest-free loans of up to £10,000, for internationally trained refugees to pay for UK accreditation, requalification or training, enabling them to return to employment in their prior professional fields. Loans are assessed on a character basis, harnessing the power of human relationships to provide lifelines to individuals who have no alternative access to credit. Repayment plans are worked out on an individual basis with the applicant.

EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMME -

In 2020, we launched our Employment Programme, where we provide tailored guidance to professionals who are looking to re-enter the workforce. We work directly with employers to source paid positions and internships that are commensurate with the skills and experiences of RefuAid clients. In addition, we help with CV support, interview preparation and professional mentoring. This provides clients with an opportunity to gain experience, benchmark their skills and, most importantly, build a professional network and pathway for career progression.

THE ROLE -

The aim of the programme caseworker is to ensure clients on each individual programme have a clear plan, achievable goals and are being well supported towards higher education, requalification or employment. You will maintain a good relationship with your clients through regular communication. You will offer advice and support on any issues or barriers they may face during their time on the programmes.

WHY REFUAID -

We know working in the charity sector can be tough! So in recognition of this, we offer an excellent employment package including flexible working, excellent training & development opportunities, generous holiday and time off allowances, regular team get-togethers and a big focus on staff happiness and wellbeing. We have fun and we care.

If you think you would be the right fit we would love to hear from you!
