Job Title: Community Outreach Worker, South Asian Service (Fixed Term)

Salary: £25,104 per annum
Contract type: Fixed Term until 30th September 2022
Hours: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week

Responsibilities
We are recruiting for a Community Outreach Worker to join our South Asian Service team in Derby; Suitable candidate will provide a high quality personal welfare support service to survivors of domestic violence and other forms of violence and abuse including those at the point of crisis. The post holder will provide advice, advocacy, support and training to statutory agencies, in accordance with Refuge’s philosophical principles. The role involves empowering survivors to make decisions, increase their options, their confidence and their safety while also working within a multi-agency framework to develop referral, joint working and information sharing protocols.
Essential Skills or Experience
You must be methodical and well-organised; with proven experience of providing direct emotional, practical and welfare support, ideally within a relevant field such as a refuge, women’s advice centre or residential setting. You must be experienced in identifying and responding to the risks to and needs of survivors of domestic violence. With an up-to-date knowledge of relevant civil and criminal legislation, you will have a demonstrable ability to use Microsoft Office and the ability to build and develop supportive relationships with survivors and their children fleeing domestic violence.
Candidates for this role must be proficient in either of the following languages: Bangladeshi, Urdu and Punjabi.
