Victoria, Greater London
£39,548 per year
Permanent, Full-time
Job description

We are looking for a talented, experienced media and PR professional to strengthen our voice and influence through the media and play a key role in the delivery of our ambitious campaigns.

There has never been a more crucial time to stand up to the injustice facing refugees and people seeking asylum in the UK. You will be part of an impactful Campaigns Team and work closely with colleagues in the Fundraising and Brand Team.  You will be responsible for the leadership of Refugee Action’s media work, driving strategy and developing key relationships with journalists.  You will generate targeted media coverage in order to maximise the impact of our campaigns, raise our profile and help us to achieve positive external change for refugees and people seeking asylum.

You will be responsible for line managing the Communications & Stories Officer, ensuring the inspiring stories about the refugees and people seeking asylum we support are sourced and produced. Working closely with the Fundraising and Brand team, you will also support the development of creative content and engaging PR strategies to inspire and mobilise existing and potential new supporters.

You must have:

  • Previous experience in a media leadership role within an organisation, or as a journalist
  • A sound understanding of the political and news environment, with the ability to identify and act on opportunities
  • First class written and verbal communication skills; an ability to quickly translate complex information into engaging and newsworthy copy and to clearly explain complex issues

This is a full time, 35 hour per week position. We are also happy to consider applications for working between 4-5 days a week, flexible, and/or compressed hours working.
