Refugee Council
Stratford, Greater London (Hybrid)

Contract, Fixed term contract until 31st December 2023, Full-time
Job description

This Casework Coordinator role is based within the Services Directorate. In part, this directorate focuses its support on refugees who have been recognised as having protection needs and have been granted permission to stay in the UK but are now struggling to rebuild their lives in a new and unfamiliar country. Many need advice and guidance in areas such as housing, health, welfare support, education/training and employment.

The Refugee Council’s Refugee Advice Project is based in London and runs five days per week. It aims to become the most specialist and highly regarded service of its kind in London supporting new refugees. We have a highly specialised, skilled and committed team. The Casework Coordinator will play a key role within this team and will be central in helping us to realise our goal.

Refugee Council’s Refugee Crisis Appeal has enabled us to expand our Refugee Advice Project, providing crisis support to more people in London. In partnership with Refugees at Home, the Refugee Advice Project’s increased capacity will allow us to provide housing, welfare benefit and health access advice to people who have recently arrived following the conflict in Ukraine who have recourse to public funds, as well as continuing our existing work supporting newly recognised refugees who are facing homelessness and destitution.

The postholder will focus on ensuring that clients engaging within our service will receive specialist information, advice and advocacy support. This role will provide casework support to clients dealing with the key issues of housing, welfare and health. The Casework Coordinator will work closely with others to ensure we effectively manage and support our caseload of clients and run an effective advice service. This role will take responsibility for the progression of its own caseload with the support of volunteers.
