Job description

We need a project manager to help us transition our face to face training materials online over the next 6 months.

In the light of Covid-19, Refugee Support Network (RSN) has started delivering its refugee youth education services and associated training online. As we build back better, we’re looking for a motivated, organised and capable individual to manage our online learning transition project by overseeing the process of adapting our suite of face-to-face training and learning materials to an online and/or blended learning format and supporting other improvements to RSN’s online presence. The postholder will manage this 6 month digital transition project to time and budget, acting as a bridge between RSN’s educational specialists, our communications team and the relevant external design and technical companies.

About RSN

At Refugee Support Network we are working towards a world where all young people displaced by conflict or crisis are able to build more hopeful futures. Led by our ethos and values, we do this by supporting young refugees and asylum seekers to access, remain and progress in education.

Job mission and outcomes

This role exists to successfully deliver RSN’s digital transition project which will increase the reach and impact of our work in the post-Coronavirus context. To this end, the Online Learning Transition Project Manager will deliver the following outcomes:

Outcome 1: RSN has a portfolio of blended and online learning training materials 

Key tasks include:

  • Overseeing the adaptation of RSN’s existing suite of materials to an online/blended learning format, including training materials for volunteer educational mentors and education professionals and our leadership course for young refugees and asylum seekers;

  • Acting as the primary focal point and liaison between RSN’s education technical experts (i.e. those who have developed and deliver the existing face-to-face training packages) and our online and blended learning instructional design partners (Centreity);

  • Working alongside our instructional design partners to make necessary adaptations to the face to face materials.

  • Creating and sourcing of additional supplementary materials necessary to successfully transition these resources online

Outcome 2: The digital transition project is well-managed to time and to budget, in line with RSN’s ethos and values

Key tasks include:

  • Developing and delivering a project plan ;

  • Maintaining close oversight of the project’s time frame and budget to ensure successful delivery;

  • Collaborating closely with other team members, including the CEO, our Fundraising and Communications Officer, RSN’s educational technical experts and their wider teams to ensure that the products being developed meet the users’ needs;

  • Communicating clearly and regularly with our instructional design partners and other external agencies involved in the project’s delivery.

Outcome 3: RSN has an improved digital presence which better serves the organisation and end users

Key tasks include:

  • Working with the CEO, Head of Programmes and Fundraising and Communications Officer to establish key goals and additional time-bound micro-projects

  • Working with RSN team members and external agencies as required to improve and update our online presence and activities

Person Specification

In order to achieve this role’s mission and deliver the above outcomes, we would like candidates to demonstrate the following competencies:

Technical knowledge, skills and experience

Development of online and/or blended learning materials:

  • A full understanding of, and experience in, using e-learning creation tools and Learning Management Systems

  • Awareness of good-practice and innovation in the e-learning industry, particularly in light of Covid-19

  • Understanding of online and blended learning pedagogies, methodologies, styles and standards

  • Knowledge of best practice in accessibility and the creation of user-centred resources

  • Experience of working collaboratively with partners to create online and blended learning materials

  • Experience of managing, creating, delivering e-learning (desirable)

  • Relevant recognised training qualification/s with ability to translate the theoretical basis into action (desirable)

  • Experience of developing youth-centred training (desirable)

  • Experience of developing training materials for learners with English as a second language (desirable)

  • Good understanding of key issues in refugee education (desirable)

Project management

  • Proven track record of managing and delivering projects on time and to budget

  • Sufficient IT knowledge to work effectively on the RSN team, eg is able to use, or quickly pick up,  Google Drive, Whatsapp, Google Hangouts
