Reprieve is a UK charity founded in 1999. Reprieve uses strategic interventions to end the use of the death penalty globally, and to end extreme human rights abuses carried out in the name of “counterterrorism” or “national security”.
Reprieve works with the most disenfranchised people in society, as it is in their cases that human rights are most swiftly jettisoned and the rule of law is cast aside. Thus, Reprieve promotes and protects the rights of those facing the death penalty and those who are the victims of extreme human rights abuses carried out in the name of “counterterrorism” or “national security”, with a focus on arbitrary detention, torture, and extrajudicial executions.
Reprieve’s main office is in London, UK. Reprieve also supports full-time Fellows, who work as lawyers, investigators and campaigners in the countries in which we work. We work closely with a number of partner organisations in jurisdictions all over the world, who provide access to clients, expertise, knowledge and guidance on specific issues or regions. We work in cooperation with relevant government officials, individual lawyers and human rights defenders, as well as individual, corporate and foundation funders to further the cause of our shared goals.
Reprieve is looking for a Digital & Campaigns Team Manager to join our fast‐moving and creative Development Team. In this role, and to achieve your ambitious online fundraising targets, you will work closely with colleagues in the casework, advocacy and media teams – as well as the senior management team – in developing and delivering digital campaigns that mobilise Reprieve’s growing database of supporters (currently about 100,000 people) as well as the Reprieve US database (currently about 4,500 people).
Reprieve’s income from the general public, through regular giving and one off gifts (largely delivered via our digital campaigns work), has grown significantly over the last five years with an ambitious target of raising £900,000 from the general public in 2021, accounting for a projected quarter of our income. This is an area we want to grow further and we are excited about the continuing development of this area of fundraising.
This role is central to Reprieve’s fundraising and public engagement strategies. Your creative and technical skills across multiple platforms – email (Engaging Networks), social media (Facebook Business Manager, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter), websites (WordPress, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Ad Grant, hosting platforms), fundraising (Stripe, RSM 2000, Raiser’s Edge) – will help us achieve our ambitious fundraising goals and amplify our casework.
You will be a great organiser of yourself and other people. You will manage a team of two Campaigns and Digital Officers to achieve your targets whilst working cross organisationally to get input and feedback on your campaigns. You will enjoy working creatively, strategically and diplomatically, and be adept at striking the balance between creating powerful and persuasive content that amplifies our cases, and is also effective at raising funds for our work. Sometimes you will need to make difficult assessments in consultation with others, such as whether new content is best used in a digital campaign or in press coverage. You will have experience in digital campaigning, digital fundraising, digital marketing, and digital content creation. You will have experience managing a budget and making decisions about the best use of resources to advance your work. You will have a passion for the potential of digital, and an eye on the horizon to know how to continue improving Reprieve’s campaigns and digital fundraising work. Your passion in engaging people in the work of Reprieve, and in furthering Reprieve’s mission, will be evident.
You are a positive person with a hands on attitude, preferably with management experience, or you are at a stage of your career where you are looking to manage others, with the skills and ability to develop the talented Campaigns and Digital Officers you will be managing. You will have demonstrable experience of raising income through digital fundraising campaigns which you have designed and / or led. You will be open to new ideas and eager to learn. You will have a willingness to muck in on all tasks big and small, and the ambition and energy to drive forward Reprieve's fundraising and digital campaigning work.
