About the Role 
As Shop Support Manager, you will provide focused support on defined areas, working alongside the Shop Manager to understand the shop, community, and proposition.   

This is an exciting new role with huge opportunity to impact the success of our Derby shop, and to act as an ambassador for our brand in the local community!

Working closely with the Shop Manager in our Derby shop, an initial focus of your role will be in supporting volunteer recruitment as we look to grow our existing volunteer team, including ensuring they receive amazing induction and training support when they join us!   

You will also be responsible for delivering on other key areas of work to enable the delivery of the shop's potential and empower the volunteer team to help the Shop Manager drive the shop forward. At times this will include taking on responsibility for day-to-day operations or leadership of the shop, providing key support and additional capacity to the Shop Manager to enable the shop's continued success.   

About You 
You will be someone with exceptional project coordination skills, who understands the importance of community and enjoys supporting people to exercise similar passions through volunteering. 

You'll bring: 

• Project coordination experience within retail or a transferable setting, e.g. community engagement, volunteer management, operations etc. 
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build & maintain positive working relationships with a variety of people.
• A flexible, positive and resilient attitude, able to work at pace in a fast-moving environment. 
• Results driven approach with experience of working to targets. 
• Experience and confidence using a range of IT platforms including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), as well as systems for the management of other areas (e.g. reporting, volunteer management). 

Previous charity retail experience is not essential. If you have transferable project management experience and are looking for a new challenge, we'd love to hear from you!

About the team

The Shop Support Team Administrator role sits within our Shop Support Team in the Income Generation directorate at Shelter, you will report into the Shop Support Team Manager.

About the Role

Providing comprehensive support to our Shops and Retail function is what’s required here. You’ll be the first point of contact for staff, customers and supporters and also be responsible for all aspects of the shop supplies orders process - from price checking to placing orders. And, when it comes to finance or new goods admin – like processing invoices, raising new product codes or assisting with stock takes, again we’ll count on you. Ensuring new shops have the necessary supplies and signage, maintaining till number records, updating spreadsheets and managing the shop’s online handbook – all are aspects of this interesting, varied and vital support role.

About you

What are you looking for?

Significant analytical skills and the ability to work with complex information. Experience of identifying, monitoring and meeting customer needs using sector lead insights.

• Commercial or charity retailer with experience in a field management capacity of working in a large and complex organisation, understanding leadership and management of multi-site retail shops at a national or regional level.

• Experience in working within a large complex, matrix led organisation, comfortably navigating stakeholder requests and representing retails own strategic aims and goals.

• Experience of initiating and implementing change, receptive to new ideas and able to participate fully in developing business plans and strategy.

• Evidence of strong leadership and people management, inspiring and empowering team members to believe in the vision and direction of a role, its department and the organisation. As well as experience of Project Management including development, implementation, review and monitoring success.
