We're looking for a Shop Manager to join our team. This is an exciting new opportunity to lead our brilliant volunteer team in our Allestree shop in Derby, as part of our ongoing plans to grow our Retail teams and deliver inspiring retail spaces across the UK!
We want to bring the wonders of charity shops back to our high-street and we need driven and passionate people to get us there!

About the Role
Located in Allestree, Derby, our shop is situated in a fantastic community shopping setting. As Shop Manager you'll be leading a small but active volunteer team of around 15, and will play a key role helping to unlock the shop's full potential, including continuing to grow the team and exploring new opportunities for community engagement and building income.
This is a new role working within a shop that is currently volunteer-led and an exciting opportunity to be part of our Retail growth plans as we recruit more Shop Managers to join our team!
About You
You will be someone with exceptional people skills, a leader who understands the importance of community and enjoys supporting people to exercise similar passions through volunteering.
You'll bring:
- Proven experience leading and inspiring teams
- A strong understanding of what good looks like in a busy and successful community-led shop, ideally with some experience within Retail or a clear passion for sustainable fashion and knowledge of products and trends
- A can-do attitude and ability to approach challenges in a positive way, knowing when to reach out for support and guidance where you need it.
Previous charity retail experience is not essential. If you have transferable leadership skills or experience managing volunteers in other settings and are looking for a new challenge, we'd love to hear from you!

Ways of Working: On-site – this role will be based in the Allestree shop in Derby. The shop is currently open 6 days per week, and we're looking for someone able to work full-time (5 days per week) including some weekend working.

We are looking for an Assistant Shop Manager to work alongside the Shop Manager in our Sutton in Ashfield shop. Are you self motivated with strong interpersonal skills and thrive on challenges and opportunities that come with assisting in the running of the shop? Can you assist the Shop Manager in driving sales and profits and able to work closely with staff and Volunteers to ensure we deliver the best level of customer service.
We are looking for someone who loves working with people and has the ability to lead in the absence of the Shop Manager, inspire and empower people around them. We are looking for someone who is friendly and positive in their approach and can instil an energy to those around them. Have you got a creative ability that you can bring to the role?
You will make a real difference to young people in England by helping to raise vital funds needed to support our frontline work.
It is important that you have good communication skills both inside and outside the shop, reaching out to the local community to help build support for the shop. Retail experience along with online sales experience would be an advantage.

About the team
The Shop Support Team Administrator role sits within our Shop Support Team in the Income Generation directorate at Shelter, you will report into the Shop Support Team Manager.
About the Role
Providing comprehensive support to our Shops and Retail function is what’s required here. You’ll be the first point of contact for staff, customers and supporters and also be responsible for all aspects of the shop supplies orders process - from price checking to placing orders. And, when it comes to finance or new goods admin – like processing invoices, raising new product codes or assisting with stock takes, again we’ll count on you. Ensuring new shops have the necessary supplies and signage, maintaining till number records, updating spreadsheets and managing the shop’s online handbook – all are aspects of this interesting, varied and vital support role.

About you
To succeed, you’ll need a background in admin, excellent communication and time management skills and a proven ability to work across a range of tasks simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail. The ability to respond quickly and positively to change is important too, as is a willingness to challenge the status quo and introduce new ideas, methods or processes where appropriate. Commercially aware, customer focused and happy to work collaboratively for the good of a business, it goes without saying that you’re proficient using Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel, SharePoint, Outlook and the internet.
