Job description

If you have catering experience and have a passion for cooking as well as providing excellent customer service, consider a move to Sparky's Café as a Catering Assistant. 


Right now, one of our partners, Richmond Fellowship, is looking for a Catering Assistant for our community cafe. Our aim is to provide a high quality catering experience for customers using our café, as well as employment and volunteering opportunities for individuals with experience of mental health problems. But this is only possible with people like you to help us.


You will support individuals to participate in the running of the café and shop through a programme of apprenticeships, work placements and volunteering. You will also play your part in food preparation and provide the best customer care while serving in the shop, including handling cash and card transactions.


Ideally, you will have some experience of selling products or services that involves handling cash/card transactions but we are happy to provide training for the right person. Well organised with good time management skills and a commitment to team working, you will have a genuine interest in working with people with mental health problems. Good verbal and written communication skills and an ability to use office IT systems is needed as is the ability to work flexibly including weekend cover as part of a rota. An NVQ 2 in Catering or related vocational qualification would be an advantage.


The salary for this post is £18,525 per annum (pro-rata for 22.5 hours).


This is a permanent part-time role, requiring the post-holder to work 22.5 hours per week.
