We’re putting digital front and centre of what we do. It is the best way to reach more of the 1 in 5 adults in the UK who are deaf or have hearing loss and the 1 in 8 with tinnitus.

RNID is looking for an experienced Social Media Manager to oversee output on our channels and help develop a forward-thinking social media strategy for the organisation. We’re looking for someone who is creative, fun with an analytical mind who will thrive in a collaborative environment.

Social media at RNID isn’t just about engagement and performance but about connecting and telling stories to drive impact for our communities. We want to be the first place that a deaf person or someone with hearing loss or tinnitus comes to for advice and support, and we want them to stay and share their own experiences so we can help them on their own personal journey.

Your purpose

Since rebranding RNID, our social media channels have been on an exciting journey setting up livestreams, a paid strategy and bringing new content to our channels, but we want to grow further and set up new channel strategies for the future of RNID. Our aim is to generate awareness of RNID and drive engagement with deaf people and those with hearing loss or tinnitus. You will use your experience in social media, paid and organic to help the deliver the organisation’s objectives, working collaboratively with colleagues across the charity and bring new content to our communities, putting them at the centre of everything we do.

Your role

You work with the Brand and Marketing Lead and Content Lead to play a key role in the development of the social media strategy for the charity.

  • You will introduce new and innovative ways of working to deliver a first-class social media experience.
  • You champion social media best practices day to day to deliver the most effective, integrated campaigns across the UK from a paid and organic perspective.
  • You implement and manage a social media activity schedule for the charity with the discretion to decide what activity is added to the schedule, whilst creating highly engaging content.
  • You will line manage and develop a team member in paid social media and community strategy.
  • You will drive the strategy and growth of our channels.
  • You will share insight from your test and learn projects and audience analysis.
  • You can create content or short videos for reactive social media actions.
  • You are a brand champion across our channels.
  • You will work towards making accessible content for our communities, making sure it is also diverse and inclusive.
  • You support and build our influencer strategy through our social channels and encourage others to share their stories.

Your skills

  • You have a thorough understanding of your professional area and how it fits within the organisation. You select the appropriate methods, tools and applications, communicate fluently and are able to present complex information to a non-technical audience.
  • You keep up to date with developments in your professional area of expertise.
  • You are responsible and take initiative for your own personal development.
  • You are confident in crisis and can bring strong solutions forward.
  • Excellent knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube and other social media channels.
  • Experience of influencer and ambassador relationship development
  • Experience developing and implementing social media strategies.
  • Experience setting KPIs, measuring and reporting back on results.
  • Experience of storytelling, engaging social content (written and visual) and campaign planning.
  • Experience of paid social media, building, testing and optimising
  • Able to confidently deliver training.
  • Multimedia content production skills, such as video, audio and/or graphic design desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, proofreading and attention to detail


Background in journalism, creative content, marketing, brand and social media.
