About Roundups

Roundups is a social impact startup on a mission to build the most compelling giving experiences in the world. We’re working with some of the biggest charities in the UK to transform how people give and interact with giving. We envision a world where we all live a little more generously, not just for the benefit of good causes, but for our own sense of connection, fulfilment and purpose. 

Our inaugural product is the Roundups app which links with your card to round up your payments, donate pennies and track your social impact as you spend. Roundups was launched in November 2020 by CEO Sean Donnelly and CTO Matt Smithson. Sean’s background is in advertising and startups, while Matt is a senior FinTech developer. We have just closed a very successful, oversubscribed pre-seed funding round. This will provide the launchpad we need for rapid growth. Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who is determined to make a bold difference in the world but who possesses pragmatic optimism and commercial awareness. We want someone who is comfortable taking responsibility and driving things forward. The right person will be a fast learner and comfortable switching gear between multiple functions - getting stuck in to whatever needs doing. It is not essential that you have experience in tech, startups or the third sector, though it would be a bonus. It is essential that you have a strong commitment to our vision. The ideal candidate is razor sharp, confident, energetic and good-natured. You will be excited about joining us at such an early stage and at the prospect of playing a pivotal role in the company’s success.



Role and responsibilities
As employee number 1, you will have the chance to define your role and grow with the company. Hiring you will be one of the most important decisions we have made so far, so you will need to be comfortable with, and enjoy, the pressure and expectation that comes with this. 


You will be thrown in at the deep end on a diverse range of tasks and granted creative license and leadership on various projects. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Social Media Management (~40%): content creation and scheduling using software such as Canva, Figma and Later (full training will be provided)

  • Donor Engagement (~20%): delighting our community with in-app experiences, newsletters and blogs.

  • PR (~5%): building relationships with the press and generating coverage

  • Sales and Partnerships (~20%): working closely with amazing fundraisers in charities and schools to support their donor acquisition and stewardship

  • Paid Ads Management (~5%): managing various ad platforms to drive donor acquisition (training provided)

  • Miscellaneous (Product, Strategy, Operations and Analyses) (~10%): supporting the founders on all other aspects of the business. Identifying new business opportunities and channels for growth, brainstorming product improvements and marketing campaigns, analysis and more!



What success looks like in 3-6 months

With support from the founders, you have personally led scalable initiatives that generate new income for inspiring charities. You have also onboarded new charities and schools, organisations that will be your own clients going forward. Our engagement rates have soared because of the communications that you have managed and you have generated some press coverage for the company too! 




  • A passion for making a positive difference in the world

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong understanding of social media and content creation

  • Ability to prioritise, multitask and remain composed under pressure

  • A collaborative approach in which you’re comfortable rolling up your sleeves and getting into whatever needs doing most

  • Self-awareness and willingness to learn alongside the confidence to challenge the founders bring ideas to the table 

  • Sensitive and efficient stakeholder management and reporting skills

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills alongside high emotional intelligence

  • Proactive, resourceful and curious


Bonus Points

  • Experience in the third sector, startups, marketing and/or design

  • Understanding of Lean Startup and Growth Hacking methodologies

  • Volunteering experience

Our office is wonderfully located in the heart of Soho. We provide refreshments, the occasional lunch/breakfast and free beer/wine in the evenings. You will have your own desk in the office. We are flexible with remote working but would like to see you in-person 2-3 times per week because collaboration and team spirit is so crucial at this stage of our company’s life.
