Project Manager (Workforce Information)
35 hours per week, full-time
The job of Project Manager is a crucial role in which you will lead, manage and prioritise each stage of the major projects relating to the child health workforce through to completion, in line with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) strategy and operational plan. The aim of this work is to ensure that there are the right number of paediatricians in the right place at the right time.
As Project Manager, you will lead on the analysis of data in workforce projects and provide statistical expertise in the production of all the teams reports and publications. You will be responsible for the preparation and presentation of proposals to a wide range of audiences including the Senior Management Team, the Executive Committee and the Council. You will also deputise for the Workforce Manager when required, including liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
With project management experience and an understanding of project methodology, you will use your specialist qualitative and quantitative data analytical skills and knowledge to exercise judgement on the use of appropriate methodologies for data collection and analysis.
Using your ability to take a lead role in working with and managing a wide range of people, you will work closely with the Head of Workforce Information to develop and improve working practices and workforce data. Demonstrating your strong problem-solving skills, you will have the ability to understand, discuss and present complex issues around health service planning, ensuring that the College maintains its profile in shaping the paediatric workforce across the UK.
This role is pivotal for the College at a time when there are significant shortages in paediatric rotas across the UK and where there is a compelling case to be made to support RCPCH’s members in delivering safe and sustainable services to children and their families. The role is also being advertised at an exciting time as NHS England begins implementing its ten-year Long Term Plan which includes a much stronger focus on children and young people.
The RCPCH sets and maintains standards for the education and training of all doctors working in paediatrics and child health in the UK. We advocate on child health issues at home and internationally. Additionally, through a variety of activities, the RCPCH influences the quality of medical practice for children in hospital and in the community.
The RCPCH has more than 20,000 members and fellows and employs around 170 staff, most of whom work in our London office in Holborn. We have smaller offices in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions all staff are currently working from home, however once it is safe to do so the London office will reopen and staff will be required to work from the office for a minimum of 60% of the week and the remainder from home.
