Job title – Digital Content Editor

Department - Care Quality Improvement Directorate (CQID)

Location – Liverpool - The role is offered within a hybrid working environment with a blend of office and homeworking.

Working hours – Full time, 35 hours a week

12 month fixed term contract.

Salary - Grade 4: £25,585 - £27,448 per annum.

Medical Care – driving change is an exciting new initiative from the RCP. It is a new portal to support clinical teams to deliver long-lasting improvement in healthcare and digital healthcare. Medical care – driving change will host carefully curated content developed by content advisors and overseen by an editor in chief through a wide range of communication tools such as podcasts, webinars, blogs and longer reads. It will share resources that are most relevant in a post pandemic society that are constantly reviewed and updated to suit the evolving state of healthcare.

Key responsibilities

The newly created position of digital content editor will be a key role in delivering the ambition for the Medical Care – driving change and a great opportunity to support the medical workforce in delivering sustainable change and improvement.

You’ll be trusted to work autonomously and encouraged to develop and implement your ideas. You will have the opportunity to build relationships and collaborate with colleagues internally and externally. Key responsibilities of the role are to:

  • Edit and develop content for the Medical Care – driving change working closely with the programme team, communications team, editor in chief and content advisors
  • Manage the content schedule to ensure timely content is delivered accurately and to high standards
  • Ensure navigation and functionality provide best possible user journey

About you

You will have good prioritisation skills and technical problem-solving skills with an adaptable and flexible approach. In particular, we are seeking candidates with:

  • Proven experience in delivering high quality digital content from brief through to publication
  • Meticulous editing and proofreading skills including the ability to write accurately and in plain English
  • Experience in developing varied materials to meet the corporate design and style guides for digital content
  • Knowledge of user experience, user research, use of analytics and search engine optimisation practices and tools.
  • Knowledge of Umbraco CMS and/or other similar systems
  • Strong knowledge of HTML, XHTML1.1, CSS coding skills, Javascript.

This role will be based in Liverpool at the newly opened Spine. The Spine will be one of the healthiest buildings in the UK as it will achieve the platinum grade of a very demanding international standard – the WELL Standard. The standard consists of seven concepts – air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort and mind. These concepts incorporate a total of 102 features of a building that can be designed to optimise the health of the occupants of the building and create an environment to promote a healthy and happy workforce.

A small handful of buildings have been built to this standard in England, and only a few meet the highest criterium – the platinum WELL Standard.

The Spine is the highest point in Liverpool and has unrivalled views over the city, to Wales and Snowdonia in one direction and the Pennines in the other direction.
