The RHS is a national charity with a mission to inspire everyone to grow, as it is vital to our wellbeing, the environment and the happiness of us all. We are undergoing an exciting period of development which includes bringing our work with community volunteers, schools and groups to the heart of what we do.
This role is to work in our Communities’ Team, at our London head office, to support Britain in Bloom, an amazing force of volunteers that use gardening to transform towns, cities and villages across the UK.
This role is responsible for managing the prestigious RHS Britain in Bloom programme which recognises and celebrates the work of volunteers growing in their communities.
Bloom has 55 years of history but is an evolving programme, with volunteers gardening in a changing environment A creative thinker, you will have an interest in helping us develop the programme and improve the reach of our activities, as the programme influences more than 3,000 community gardening groups across the UK.
The communities will have worked very hard to earn their place in the UK Finals and you will ensure they enjoy their year in the spotlight, by managing a suite of events and activities, including the national judging tour and awards ceremony.
We are looking for someone with confident management skills, excellent attention to detail and a strong track record leading large scale projects to budget and deadlines.
You will work closely with a range of highly valued delivery partners including Bloom Federation Chairs, UK judges, finalists and external agencies. Building strong internal and external relationships will be key to success in this role, and you will have excellent communication skills.
Reporting to the Community Development Manager, you will work as part of a small but highly motivated team. You will be managing one person and overseeing a delivery budget of £500,000.
