To strengthen and speed up our recovery, we are looking for an established and significantly experienced Major Gift Manager to join our high performing team; you will focus on identifying, cultivating, asking, securing, and stewarding major gifts (gifts of £10,000 and above) from individuals. You will be responsible for engaging, connecting, and building long lasting relationships with the RSC with a personal portfolio of around 100 committed major donors and prospective supporters.
This role offers a wonderful opportunity for a talented and highly experienced major gift fundraiser to make a significant contribution to the RSC's future. Reporting to the Head of Development (Individuals) you will ordinarily be based in our London offices with regular visits to Stratford-upon-Avon and the possibility of travel to the US. In the current situation the development team are working remotely.
Key responsibilities include:
- Achieving personal income and solicitation targets.
- Stewarding long term relationships, currently through telephone/online calls, virtual meetings, and events.
- Researching and identifying prospects, active solicitation planning and developing a prospect pipeline.
- Creating well-written, accurate and inspiring proposals.
- Representing the RSC and Development team with external and internal stakeholders.
- Contributing to the development of the RSC's major gift strategy in both the UK and USA
- Attending performances and events (in person and online) at the RSC including evenings and weekends, taking an active lead in cultivating new supporters.
- Engaging and supporting senior volunteers involved in major gift fundraising
The ideal person must have demonstrable major gift fundraising knowledge and proven experience of personally securing donations of five and six figures. We are looking for an engaging person who relishes in building meaningful relationships with major donors and prospects. An eye for detail and the ability to write compelling, creative, and persuasive proposals will set you in good stead. To be successful in this role you need a confident, friendly, and positive outlook, together with sophisticated and engaging communication skills.
This position will be based in London and will require regular travel to Stratford-upon-Avon. This role is offered as 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, although occasional weekend and evening work will be required. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic you will initially work remotely.
