Job Description

Job Title:                    IT Support Administrator {6 Month Fixed Term Contract}

Location:                    Can be based out of our nearest location to your home: (Hampton, Surbiton, High Wycombe, Solihull). Travel to all locations is regularly required

Reports to:                 Head of IT

Responsible for:        No direct reports

Main purpose of the job

Responsible for the day-to-day running of the charity’s IT systems including maintaining the infrastructure, manage & resolve escalated cases from an outsourced first line support IT service, troubleshooting system issues and escalating problems to the appropriate teams or third parties.

Ensure the uptime, performance and availability of the charity’s IT systems.

Key responsibilities

Provide IT support to the charity’s users and support the work of the Head of IT

Monitor the IT outsourced support service and respond to any escalations

Manage the IT infrastructure ensuring it meets current and future requirements

Ensuring continual availability, reliability and performance of core applications

Perform routine checks on critical services and infrastructure and ensuring backups are in place and are usable to ensure business continuity

Overseeing IT security and compliance and disaster recovery plans

Support and maintain the network creating appropriate IT documentation

Identifying problems and providing solutions through support & documentation

Administration of Active Directory & 365 apps incl. SharePoint, Exchange & Teams

Purchasing equipment, maintaining asset lists and equipment audits

Preparing and issuing IT and telephony equipment to end users

Inducting new starters (onboarding) and closing accounts for leavers (offboarding)

Ensuring IT policies and procedures are documented and up to date

Ensuring that all front-end and back-office systems are kept up to date with the latest firmware, patches and security/maintenance updates

Evaluating and implementing new technology and system enhancements.

Working Pattern

Full-time (35 hours excluding breaks) and flexible. This role will require flexible working in terms of location and working pattern. Occasional evening and weekend working will be required.

A UK driving license and the ability to travel independently between the four sites

A reasonable understanding of on-prem data communications equipment (e.g. firewalls, routers, switches, hubs, WiFi controllers and access points, UPS, cabinets, patch panels, Cat 5+ cabling, fibre links, ADSL, analogue, etc.)

At least a basic understanding of wide and local area networking technologies and practices (e.g. MPLS, SD-WAN, VLANs, bandwidth partitioning, etc.)
