Job description

Head of Campaigning
Ref: tTHbV-9
Location: Flexible
Salary: £39,970 to £43,301 per annum
Hours: Full time
Contract: Permanent

To halt and reverse the decline in biodiversity we need a response that is commensurate with the threat. We need to bring people with us and we need to build a movement so irresistible, so diverse and so unstoppable that it can't be ignored. We need a public movement for nature, and this needs to be translated into political action.

Changing the way we campaign as part of a wider movement for nature is essential to the success of our Transforming Policies for Nature programme. The Head of Campaigning will understand the societal, political and sectoral context surrounding the need to secure policy change for nature and drive change in how the RSPB campaigns and engages with other audiences and campaigning organisations to secure those policy outcomes.

Working across the organisation, in particular with policy and campaigning leads in Global Conservation and UK Countries, this role will be accountable for the development of our Campaigning Strategy. With a drive to transform policies for nature and deliver fully integrated campaigning through all RSPB activities, the Head of Campaigning will challenge the business to continue to develop new and innovative approaches to campaigning in all four countries. This role will also lead the development of the campaign communications plan and manage the Campaigns team.

You will have an appetite to change the way RSPB approaches campaigning, and demonstrate leadership and influencing skills to drive transformational change across RSPB and beyond. You will have drive and energy to help build a diverse, people powered campaigning movement for nature.

This role is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. You will be asked to declare unspent convictions and cautions at offer of employment stage.
