This brand new full or part time (0.6 - 1.0 FTE) Community Fundraiser post is being created to raise awareness and promote the work of Little Valley Animal Shelter and equally importantly to help raise funds for the Shelter from our local community.
Although we are proud to be affiliated to the RSPCA (South, East and West Devon Branch), Little Valley Animal Shelter is a completely separate, self-funded, small, local Devon charity (205154), located on a beautiful 20-acre site just outside Exeter. We have been operating from this site for almost 30 years and last year alone our shelter rescued, cared for and successfully re-homed nearly 1,000 abandoned, abused or unwanted animals.
All our team are passionate about the many animals we care for and many of our staff have been with us for a number of years. We know that because of COVID the future is uncertain but nonetheless it is still a great time to join our team as we have just finished the rebuild of our new animal facilities, and are now poised to develop further and expand our services across Devon.
About the role
The Community Fundraiser's core remit is to work proactively with our teams and take responsibility to increase our existing fundraising income streams and equally importantly to develop new opportunities for income generation in the future. Increasing the number of volunteer supporters and helping raise our profile through improved communication are intrinsically linked to your role. Tenacity, resilience, enthusiasm, creativity are some of the key personal attitributes, as is a good working knowldge of the wide range of social media platforms as these will need to be fully utilised.
You will have an interesting and varied role and will be a pivotal member of the Shelter team, building relationships internally and externally to highlight our work and better embrace innovative ways to encourage supporters to engage with our Charity.
As this is a brand new role, you will have a wonderful opportunity to make it your own and create something really special.
This role requires practical, hands-on experience of community fundraising and ideally a good working knowledge of communication tools and methods as well as being data friendly with good IT skills. Some experience of recruiting, working with and motivating volunteers would also be advantageous, but equally important will be your approachability and people skills.
You will be motivated by Little Valley’s wide range of animal welfare work, and be prepared to multi task and roll your sleeves up as due to the small nature of our charity we often work at many different levels and in different roles, but this is one of the advantages of working for Little Valley - no two days are ever the same and there is a lot of camaraderie as we have a fun and friendly team.
As mentioned, this is an office based permanent full or part time role working 22.5hrs - 37.5 hrs a week, ideally on a full day basis, but we would consider other more flexible weekly working arrangements to accommodate lifestyles for outstanding candidates.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
