Job description

SAFE! Support for Young People Affected by Crime is an Oxford based charity working across the Thames Valley.  We are looking to recruit an experienced practitioner to work with children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse, across both the Young Victim Service and Building Respectful Families – our service supporting families affected by Child on Parent Violence.

In order to be considered for this role you will have extensive experience of working with young people in a supportive role.  An enthusiastic self-starter with excellent communication skills, you will have experience of multi-agency working and a commitment to high-standards of professionalism. You will be responsible for:  providing appropriate support to children, young people and parents, conducting assessments and designing individual intervention plans based on the young person’s needs and providing support parents/carers.

Applicants will have a good understanding of confidentiality and safe working practices and maintenance of records in accordance with the Data Protection (GDPR) Act.  In addition, you must be able to demonstrate your active commitment to promoting equal opportunities and diversity.

These roles will require some travel around the region, and occasional unsociable working hours. We are able to offer flexible working including time spent in our central Oxford office, working from home and out in the community.

SAFE! offers competitive rewards and benefits including pension, flexible working and 28 days annual leave (pro rata), as well as the opportunity to play a key role in this award-winning charity at an exciting time.

The welfare of children is paramount to all that we do in SAFE! and we would expect all successful candidates to demonstrate that they are equally committed to these values. We follow safer recruitment processes to ensure that we adhere to these standards.  Appointments will be subject to references and checks made by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) satisfactory to SAFE!

This role is funded by Oxfordshire County Council for an initial fixed term for 12 months from appointment.  Extension to the initial contract may be considered subject to funding.

Closing date: Thursday 13 May by 09.00am. Interviews are likely to be held week starting 24 May.
