Job Description

Saferworld is an independent non-governmental organisation that works to prevent violent conflict and build safer lives.  We work with civil society, governments and international organisations to encourage and support effective policies and practices through advocacy, research and policy development, and through supporting the actions of others.

The Peace Research Partnership (PRP) is a complex programme involving multiple research studies in a range of conflict-affected states, and leading to a variety of policy and programme-oriented outputs. The role of the Consortium Manager is to ensure effective coordination so that the programme is implemented in an efficient manner and delivers a coherent and useful body of evidence and learning. S/he will also liaise closely with DfID-CHASE staff to ensure that the programme responds to DfID priorities and is managed efficiently.

The Consortium Manager is a part-time 3 days/week position. The Consortium Manager will be accountable to all three consortium members through the mechanism of the joint Steering Committee. 

Working with consortium members the manager will focus on the following:

  • Coordination of communication between consortium members
  • Liaison with DfID-CHASE on behalf of consortium
  • Overseeing management of and reporting on consortium funds
  • Coordination of narrative reporting on consortium activities and outputs
  • Planning and organising joint events and activities (in collaboration with consortium partners)
  • Managing cross-consortium learning 

The successful candidate will have experience of working in at least one of the following regional contexts: Horn/East Africa, South-east Asia, the Caucasus and Central Asia, the Middle East/North Africa. S/he will have excellent people management skills with the ability to motivate a range of people across the participating organisations and Ability to work to a budget and to liaise with contractors to ensure quality and value for money.
