Our core befriending service is complemented by additional areas of activity such as community shops, support and advice centres, hostels, furniture projects, youth work, holiday provision and overseas aid.
As Financial Controller for St Vincent De Paul Society, you will support all the various activities of the organisation which include its local volunteer branches, , advice and support centres, retail shops and furniture projects, hostels, children's holiday camps and more besides.. Reporting to the Director of Finance (who is based in London) you will be responsible for leading the team in Bradford with 4 direct reports. You will take responsibility for producing management accounts, annual consolidated accounts and statutory accounts, ensuring accuracy within all balance sheet accounts and compliance with the Society's financial policies and procedures. You will act as Business Partner to key stakeholders within the organisation, providing robust financial advice and excellent customer service, working closely with managers through the budgeting process. You will also work closely with the Director of Finance to develop and improve financial systems.
You will be a qualified accountant with experience of preparing management and statutory accounts with proven ability to liaise with third parties including external auditors. You will have high level IT /Finance systems knowledge and high level excel skills are essential to this role including: SUMIFS, VLOOKUPS and Pivot Tables is essential to this role.
The successful candidate will have excellent verbal & written communication skills and will be able to influence and persuade colleagues through effective communication. Problem solving & analytical skills are highly important within the role as is the ability to suggest plans and strategies to deal with a broad range of complex activities. You will be able to work autonomously and will have proven experience of leading a team including performance management.
