Job Purpose

We are looking for a Head of Face to Face Fundraising to develop and lead a world-class face to face fundraising programme nationwide that will reach the hearts and minds of the public, engaging them in the critical work we do and inspiring them to donate the essential funds we need to support children.

This role is accountable for ensuring we reach our ambitious goals of recruiting and keeping high life-time value supporters and giving them exceptional experiences with Save the Children which embody our brand platform of Powering Possible. The secondary purpose of this role is to provide thought-leadership on the future of telemarketing as a channel across the supporter lifecycle.

Working within multi-disciplinary teams, this role will give you the opportunity to build strong relationships and cut through boundaries, in a fast-moving and dynamic environment. Leveraging agile principles, you will flex and adapt, learning rapidly and responding to change, while keeping our supporters at the heart of everything you do.

Main Accountabilities

  • Lead a cross-functional team in the development of multi-year Face to Face strategic plan, budget and forecast
  • Provide hands-on leadership in the optimal day to day management of the channel
  • Develop and be accountable for performance improvement strategies for the ongoing success and expansion of the Face to Face fundraising programme
  • Deliver effective negotiation and exceptional ongoing relationship management of key suppliers
  • Ensure our programmes are data driven and that regular, timely and accurate reporting is in place
  • Work with agile principles, adapting plans and budgets as needed to ensure overall optimum performance 
  • Propagate a deep understanding of target audiences across all Face to Face activity and be constantly developing our offering to be more relevant and engaging with those audiences
  • Ensure high quality data management processes are in place
  • Maintain an understanding of relevant trends and developments in both the charity and commercial sector
  • Work closely with external stakeholders in the wider Save the Children global family for the purposes of improving our face to face performance nationally and globally
  • Contribute to the longer-term strategy for Telemarketing across the supporter lifecycle in
    Fundraising and Marketing
  • Support Marketing Delivery Squads to maximise the channel opportunity

  Person Profile

  • Proven record of face to face agency negotiation and effective agency management
  • Experience of being a data-driven decision maker who can foster a culture of accountability, and continuous improvement through testing and learning
  • Background in leading large and complex projects through matrixed structures or multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience of designing and delivering exceptional training and performance management programmes
  • The resilience to work fast, effectively and under high pressure, as well as motivating others to do the same
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with an ability to build strong, effective relationships
  • Strong communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience of devising social and digital media plans to increase news reach
  • Excellent knowledge of child poverty, social mobility, early learning and humanitarian issues
  • A firm commitment to Save the Children's mission, values and approach (includes child focus, equal opportunities)

 

 

 

Remote Working:

The majority of SCUK employees are currently working remotely within the UK in line with UK Government guidance. Commencing July 2021 we will transition to flexible and hybrid ways of working (i.e. a mixture of remote/home and office-based working) as social distancing restrictions ease.
