This role is being created through the Government Kickstart scheme. To qualify for the role, you must be aged between 18-24 years old on 1st July 2021 and currently unemployed and on Universal Credit - unfortunately we are not able to open this role to 16 and 17 years olds at this time. You will be given a reference number from your DWP work coach to include in your application.
At Save the Children. Together, we fight for children every single day so that they can make their mark on the world and build a better future. This role will be based in our Policy Advocacy and Campaigns department which is responsible for influencing debates, government policies and public opinions to help ensure we're winning change for children.
We are looking for an individual to join us for 6 months as a Social Media Assistant in Save the Children's Media & Corporate Communications Department.
The Social Media Assistant will support the social media squad in producing world class content for Save the Children's social media channels in order to build Save the Children's brand and drive impactful campaigns. This will include writing copy, scheduling posts, editing film/photos, data visualisations and broadcasting live social content.
We're looking for someone who lives and breathes digital content, and will bring fresh ideas and enthusiasm to tell the stories of children in the most impactful and innovative ways. You'll also gain production experience working across editing software as the Adobe Creative Cloud platform including Premier Pro, After Effects and Photoshop.
- Support the team to plan and deliver compelling innovative digital content for Save the Children's Social Media Channels including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn.
- Write copy/schedule posts including text, video and photo for use across Save the Children's channels
- Take ownership of the social media calendar; scheduling and publishing content across all social media platforms
- Stay up to date on social media trends, ideate original and innovative concepts for social media channel
- Report on the performance of Save the Children's social media channels
- Support Videographers/Photographers on Save the Children shoots where needed.
- Develop skills on Adobe Creative Cloud editing software including InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects and Photoshop.
In this placement, you'll be based in our social media squad. Our squads are teams that bring together colleagues from across Save the Children to work together on areas of work to challenge the government to tackle key issues like protecting children in conflict, that our international aid budget is used to help children around the world and helping to reduce child poverty.
It's a role created to give variety and experience of working in the charitable sector, so during your time with us you'll be supporting the team to undertake a range of projects and tasks to help ensure we are securing change, this could include carrying out research projects, organising meetings, taking minutes and notes, communicating with supporters and other staff, developing creative content and ideas, and helping to monitor and evaluate the work we're doing.
Positive attitude, flexibility, and an interest in learning will be key elements in making the role work, and you'll also need a willingness to work positively with others from across the organisation.
We're looking for someone who is committed to the vision, mission, values and approach of Save the Children, and who is happy to follow our policies around safeguarding, managing risk and our code of conduct.
In return we'll provide you with training in all aspects of the role, as well as weekly programme of sessions which we'd design for you to help build your wider skills and experience.
