Job description

Be a Disability Gamechanger and join our national employment service as an Employment Advisor. Support to Work provides employment advice and guidance to disabled people in England and Wales.

About the role

You will manage a caseload of customers who are looking for work and give them employment support. You will do this over the phone and via our online portal.

You will help them to create an action plan to improve their employability skills. This should help them find paid employment within their 12 weeks on the service.

To succeed in this role you will need to:

  • have a flexible approach
  • respond positively to change
  • work well under pressure
  • deal with conflicting priorities.

This service is open 9am to 7pm, Monday to Friday. You will need to be flexible and work 35 hours a week on a rota basis to support the team.

About you

We are looking for an experienced adviser with knowledge of employability in the field of disability.

You will need excellent communication skills and experience in a customer-facing role. This should include experience of supporting customers remotely online and over the phone.

You should bring drive and enthusiasm to the role and be passionate about improving disabled people's lives through employment.

You will need to be confident with digital technology. Good working knowledge of IT including Microsoft Office products is essential. Knowledge and experience of Microsoft dynamics would be desirable.

You should be dynamic and results driven with demonstrable evidence of performance across a range of outcomes. Excellent negotiation skills will allow you to positively influence at all levels.

Skills and experience

  • Excellent customer service skills, especially over the phone
  • Experience of providing employment advice to a diverse group of customers.
  • Knowledge of the national employment market
  • Experience working in a team.
  • Excellent written skills.
  • Digitally confident- knowledge of CRM systems, especially Microsoft Dynamics, Skype for Business and Call Handling .
  • Agreement with ‘Social model of disability’ approach
