Role purpose

As head of marketing at Scope, in a fixed-term 12-month maternity leave cover position, you will be responsible for delivering the integrated marketing communications strategy and lead the organisations well-established, high-performing and ambitious marketing function.

Reporting to the executive director of marketing, fundraising and communications you will be responsible for overseeing and safeguarding brand position and reputation, providing strategic and creative direction in order to build Scope’s profile and shape engagement campaigns that engage all our audiences, responsible for audience insight and delivery of all creative and content marketing.

You’ll also sit on the marketing, fundraising and communication senior leadership team and work across the department on numerous initiatives and projects, support the executive director where required, and feed into Scope’s wider leadership team.

Main responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Lead on the delivery of Scope’s integrated marketing communications strategy. Ensuring all marketing activity is derived from our corporate and brand strategy, enhances our audience engagement, and creates a shared view across the organisation.
  • Ensure we follow an integrated approach to large scale marketing campaigns by signing off on the planning, coordination, marketing approach and strategy, external agency management (creative and media), budget and KPI setting and evaluation framework and delivery.
  • Effectively lead the marketing team to service the organisation with best in class tactical marketing and communications activities and collateral at a team level that enables us meet specific project/campaign objectives, but also to deliver against organisational level objectives.
  • Be responsible for the strategic direction of Scope’s new brand, launched in August 2018. Ensuring high standards and processes across tone of voice, visual identity, proposition, and brand architecture are implemented organisational wide. Continue to evaluate the brands effectiveness and create development strategies in line with the findings.
  • Embed and cultivate a culture of creativity in the marketing team, encouraging the team to continually innovate creative processes. You will be responsible for signing off on all creative concepts in the department as well as providing creative direction where required.
  • Manage and regularly report on the marketing budget and KPIs by following all finance processes and filling in the required dashboards and reports. Participate in Scope’s planning and budgeting process for 2020/2021 by setting and rationalising the proposed Marketing spend to deliver on the marketing strategy.
  • Line manage the marketing management team (four direct reports), ensuring they have an adequate and appropriate workload and are managing their direct reports effectively. Actively participate in the PDP process, setting SMART objectives and manage under-performance in a swift and timely manner using People and Change processes.
