About the role
As the lead economist, you will be in charge of the quantitative and economic analysis at the core of Scope’s influencing strategy and supporting our services. Your research will underpin Scope’s campaigning and policy programmes that tackle important issues disabled people and their families face.
Your work will be supporting the case for better financial security for disabled people and their families. This includes tackling the extra costs disabled people face, enabling more people to find and stay in work, improving support to live independently, and shifting negative attitudes that make daily life harder than it needs to be.
This is an ideal opportunity for an economist that wishes to work on ground-breaking and innovative projects such as our Disability Price Tag, which unpicks the financial impact of the extra cost of disability.
You will be joining a small research team made of quantitative and qualitative analysts. There will also be opportunities to supervise a junior economist.
Essential skills for this role include practical experience using STATA for economic research, strong knowledge of regression analysis and good command of Excel. Practical knowledge of SPSS is desirable, but not essential.
The ideal candidate will have a knack for explaining complex economic concepts in simple terms to variety of audiences and have a passion for using his/her skills to maximise policy impacts. Most importantly, the ideal candidate will need to be a firm believer of the social model of disability.
