Job description

Secret World Wildlife Rescue exists to rescue, rehabilitate and release injured, sick and orphaned British wildlife and inspire learning about the world of British wildlife, encouraging everyone to discover what they can do to protect it.

We are seeking a Chief Executive to lead the Charity through the next stages of its development.

Job Description

Accountable to: Chair of Trustees

Manages/ Supervises: Direct reports will be Senior Management Team of currently three managers and two Charity Advisers.

Purpose:

• Lead SWWR’s team of staff and volunteers and deliver the strategic priorities agreed with the Board of Trustees.

• Assist with development of, and deliver, the charity’s business plan and assist with delivery of fundraising plans and business development.

• Manage the charity to the highest standards of governance.

• Ensure that each part of the management team is professional and carries out their duties to a high standard.

• Provide appropriate and inspirational leadership.

• Be an exemplary role model for staff and volunteers.

• Demonstrate and maintain a nurturing and inclusive culture within the Charity.

• Ensure that all animal care activity is conducted to exacting standards and that the standards, training and conduct of animal care duties are formally and regularly audited and reviewed.

• Encourage and support an active team of volunteers across the activities of the charity

• Support an education programme on and off site, for children, adults and professionals, that fulfils the requirements of the charity’s Vision and Strategy.

• Oversee capital fundraising, planning and building of new facilities and the maintenance and development of existing facilities.

• Support a fundraising programme including regular giving, public events and charity shops.

• Manage growth of the charity and the continued development of structural, procedural and behavioural change.

• Provide strategic guidance and management information that allows the Board to ensure that the Charity achieves its mission and objectives ethically and efficiently.
