In addition to National Lottery funding, The National Lottery Community Fund distributes funding through the Dormant Assets scheme. Dormant Assets funding in Northern Ireland supports community organisations to become more sustainable and resilient, strengthening areas such as governance, digital capability and organisational development.

Background on Dormant Assets NI

In addition to being a distributor of National Lottery funding, The National Lottery Community Fund distributes money released for social purpose as laid out in the Dormant Bank and Building Society Accounts Act 2008 and the Dormant Assets Act 2022.

This legislation enables funds from dormant bank accounts and other financial products to be channelled towards good causes in the United Kingdom through an independent body called the Reclaim Fund.

Funds are distributed to The National Lottery Community Fund, which in turn makes them available for good causes in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Each devolved administration issues policy directions on how these funds are to be used.

The policy directions issued by the Department of Finance in September 2019 directed The National Lottery Community Fund to establish Dormant Assets NI to build capacity, resilience and sustainability in the third sector across Northern Ireland.

Responsibilities

​Working within the Communications Strategy team, you’ll lead communications activity for Dormant Assets NI. You will focus on raising awareness of the programme, engaging with organisations and sector networks, and sharing learning and impact through a range of channels.

The role combines proactive communications, relationship building, and close working with Policy and Engagement colleagues to support meaningful engagement with the voluntary and community sector. Responsibilities will include:

• Working with the Communications team, lead on communications activity for Dormant Assets NI, including regular funding announcements and programme milestones, ensuring messages reach the right audiences through appropriate channels
• Building and maintaining relationships with sector bodies, networks and specialist media, working closely with colleagues across the organisation, including Policy and Engagement, to amplify awareness of Dormant Assets funding.
• Working closely with the Dormant Assets NI team and the NI Customer Engagement team on the planning and delivery of grant-holder and learning events (in-person and virtual).
• Working with the Fund’s media team, you will lead on announcements, handle dormant-assets-related press requests, and contribute to reactive communications where required.
• Developing impact-focused content, including case studies, newsletters, and web content to demonstrate programme outcomes and learning.
• Planning, writing and scheduling social media content to proactively promote Dormant Assets funding, impact and learning.
• Working directly with grant holders to gather stories of impact, quotes and visual content, including site visits to supported organisations.
• Liaising with the Department of Finance, Reclaim Fund and partners to support programme visibility, stakeholder communications, project visits and photo opportunities.
• Contributing to reporting and accountability requirements, including quarterly updates for the Reclaim Fund, reporting to the Department of Finance, and using internal systems and CMS tools to maintain accurate records and project summaries.

You may already have experience working with, or communicating with, the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector, or be keen to deepen your understanding of the sector and the context in which it operates in Northern Ireland.

You are organised and proactive, with strong project management skills and the ability to manage a busy and varied workload.

We are recruiting two permanent Funding Officers in the South West: one full-time and one 0.9FTE (33.5 hours per week). Funding Officers in these roles will primarily be part of a South West regional team delivering our Reaching Communities programme, with opportunities to be involved with other programmes and aspects of the Fund’s wider operations as they arise. As a Funding Officer for the National Lottery Community Fund you will be integral to supporting the organisation to deliver our strategy It Starts With Community.  

These roles will contribute to ensuring that vital funding reaches communities and projects who need it most in our region. As a Funding Officer you will work as part of our South West regional team, working day-to-day alongside fellow Funding Officers, supported by a Funding Manager.

Across the two posts we are looking for people who will provide support across the region, with a focus on developing relationships and being a key point of contact for either Exeter & East Devon or Swindon & Wiltshire.

Ideally (but not essentially) you will live in or near one of these areas and have good knowledge of the respective local area.

The Funding Officer role is classed as mobile working which means you will be expected to work from home primarily and visit various locations across the region, as needed. The ability to drive and have access to a vehicle is therefore beneficial, although not essential.

• You will assess applications for funding and manage grants using local knowledge, best practice and thematic expertise and you will harness the experience of customers and stakeholders to improve our grant making and inform our decision making.

• You will be an active and integral member of the South West regional team, as well as the wider hub and Fund. You will contribute your skills, knowledge and expertise to a range of work and programmes as need arises. Within an organisation and sector experiencing on-going change, an agile & flexible approach to the role will be essential for success.

Job Purpose

Grandmentors Wolverhampton is a well-established and successful project that has been connecting mature volunteers with care experienced young people since 2019. As Project Coordinator, you will lead the core programme while heading up our brand new ‘Through the Gates’ pilot, which provides vital support for young people transitioning from custody back into the community. Your role is to foster high impact mentoring relationships while ensuring clear professional boundaries are maintained, complementing the work of our statutory partners in the Local Authority.

Key Responsibilities:

· Project Coordination: Lead the day-to-day delivery of Grandmentors in Wolverhampton, ensuring the project meets match targets for both the core service and the new pilot.

· Volunteer Leadership: Recruit, train, and supervise a dedicated team of mentors, ensuring they feel supported and understand how their role fits alongside other professional services.

· Boundary Management: Act as the key link to statutory leads, such as Social Workers or Personal Advisors, ensuring support remains mentor-led and escalating any professional concerns appropriately.

Somerset Wildlife Trust is a local independent charity. We are the only organisation uniquely focused on improving the natural environment of Somerset for the benefit of wildlife and people. The Somerset Environmental Records Centre (SERC) is a non-profit organization hosted by the Somerset Wildlife Trust. We serve as the county’s central hub for data regarding wildlife sightings, habitats, and geology.

About you and the Role

You’ll be part of a team where new software and techniques can do some of the heavy lifting, but we also need you to be resourceful and innovative in your thinking. You will work closely with our Data Manager and colleagues, to refine existing systems and processes, and ensure best practice is embedded in everything that we do. Including within the centre’s data acquisition, collation, synthesis, management and analysis, where diligence and achieving efficiencies, are both priorities.

Principal elements of the role are to assist in the Data Management process within SERC, data governance and policy, data collection and capture, storage, security, integration and analysis. This includes software management and working with existing data and acquiring or accessing new data and evidence from varying sources. You’ll help ensure all incoming and outgoing data processes run smoothly, securely and are up to date, to fulfil SERC’s mission as the ‘go to’ ecological data evidence provider for the county.

Whilst working closely with the Data Manager and Head of SERC, there will be opportunities for personal development and to work with other team members in the promotion and growth of SERC, ensuring environmental information is gathered, stored, analysed, interpreted and managed in line with the requirements of the SERC partnership.

Responsibility 1: Data Management

• Helping maintain the integrity of SERC data in the databases and GIS system. This includes the establishment and conformity to SERC IT policies and protocols, ensuring that data integrity is maintained, routine data quality processes are carried out, and data protection legislation is adhered to, for example regarding personally identifiable data such as GDPR.
• Uploading data to the databases as required. Responsible for the smooth and timely transfer of data between databases/systems, such as uploads from Mapmate files and NBN uploads/extracts, discussing and resolving technical issues as necessary.
• Carrying out the analysis of SERC’s data holdings and identifying gaps at least annually in order to inform the following year’s activities.
• Undertaking SLA deliverables regarding data extracts in a timely and accurate manner as required by each Service Level Agreement.
• Providing technical input to the development of SERC software applications to assist SERC in streamlining its services and developing its products.
• Working with the SERC Data Manager and team to optimise SERC’s Engineering Data Management Process to facilitate current and future mandatory Government policies, such as BNG etc.
• Actively sharing IT and systems knowledge and skills with colleagues and volunteers.

Responsibility 2: Data Security

• Working with the SERC Data Manager to continually maintain robust systems and processes, and seek improvements in data security, for example embedding metadata into spatial outputs etc.
• Ensuring backup arrangements are adequate, ensuring data is as secure as it can be and that recovery procedures work as expected.
• Implementing the correct processes, tools, and controls to secure and protect SERC’s databases against accidental and intentional threats. Secure sensitive data and maintain the confidentiality, availability, and integrity of the databases and associated applications, systems, physical and virtual servers, including all other storage medium held on and off-site, and network infrastructure.

Overall job purpose

The Site Coordinator will be solely responsible for delivering events at this stunning Grade I listed church. From the initial enquiry through to final delivery, they will oversee the planning and coordination of third-party hires, ensuring every detail is handled with care and precision while providing seamless and functional hires of this wonderful historical building. Working alone, the Site Coordinator will ensure there is continued access to the building for community groups and hirers, whilst overseeing all aspects of the day to day administration of the venue; This includes site operations, record keeping, event management, hire marketing and site presentation.

Main purpose of the job

• To support the organisation’s day-to-day finance, HR and impact data administration. This includes maintaining and strengthening financial controls, contributing to monthly and year-end financial processes, and supporting with finance/HR reports as required.
• To collect, manage and analyse data to improve service quality, demonstrate impact, and meet reporting requirements. The post holder will ensure information is accurate, compliant and used effectively to support decision-making, quality assurance and continuous improvement.

Main Tasks

Finance Administration and Financial Control

1. Process income sales invoices, grant claims and associated receipts and payments, ensuring timely receipt of all revenue.

3. Calculate accruals, prepayments and internal recharges.

4. Complete bank reconciliations.

5. Maintain and update the organisation’s asset register.

You will work within the support team in providing the first point of contact for all support enquiries to Ovacome, via telephone, email, instant chat, and social media channels.

You will provide information and support on a wide range of ovarian cancer issues, including broader issues around living with cancer, ensuring that all information is evidence based and up-to-date.

You will assist in the moderation of the My Ovacome support forum and provide information where required to members.

You will assist in keeping the Support Services information on the Ovacome website up-to-date.

You will keep full, accurate, contemporaneous records of all enquiries following Ovacome policies and procedures, including confidentiality and data protection. You will maintain and update records on the Ovacome database.

You will assist in the organisation and facilitation of Ovacome groups as required.

You will maintain knowledge of clinical and research developments in ovarian cancer through relevant journals, attending conferences and liaison with healthcare professionals.

You will assist with the production of reports as required.

You will participate in regional support events as required, liaising with local services prior to the event. 

You will contribute to the Ovacome information resources and work with other members of the Ovacome to produce content that is of interest to our community.

St. John's is a non-maintained specialist provision, working with autistic people, the majority of whom also have learning disabilities. Some of our learners have co-occurring conditions such as epilepsy, hearing or visual impairments, or mental health needs.
