For more than 30 years, War Child has been driven by a single goal – ensuring a safe future for every child affected by war. We aim to reach children as quickly as possible when conflict breaks out and stay long after the cameras have gone to support them through their recovery. We work with local communities and governments to help protect and educate children, and support them to heal and learn, for a safer, brighter future.
Last year, War Child UK agreed to come together with War Child Holland, War Child Germany, War Child Sweden and Children in Conflict in the USA, each of whom previously operated as independent NGOs, to form the War Child Alliance, which went live in January 2024. The new Alliance now runs our overseas projects, our research, scaling and advocacy programmes on behalf of us all, utilising our collective power and influence to have the greatest possible impact for children affected by war. As a member of the new Alliance, War Child UK is now a highly effective and innovative fundraising entity, raising crucial funds and awareness of our work globally.
Join us as our Director of Finance and IT at War Child UK, a pivotal role within our Leadership Group reporting directly to Helen Pattinson, CEO. Your role is to lead our finance and IT, but as a member of our leadership group to take joint responsibility with other Directors for leading the organisation.
As Finance and IT Director, you'll lead the optimisation of our finance and IT systems to streamline recording and reporting of financial transactions. Your analytical skills will be essential as you explore cost and income centres, supplying vital data necessary to significantly enhance our fundraising efforts.
Beyond day-to-day operations, you'll play a strategic role in long-term financial planning, fostering collaboration across the War Child Alliance. Together with fellow leaders, you'll steward the wider organisation, ensuring War Child UK is ready for success and equipped with ambitious financial investment frameworks.
Success in this role also entails ensuring our IT systems maintain the highest standards of excellence, delivering accurate and timely financial performance insights. You'll contribute to a vision where War Child UK achieves extraordinary results within a financially sound Alliance, empowering members to maximise their impact while being accountable for every penny raised.
You will be a qualified accountant with exceptional strategic and operational experience. You do not necessarily need to have prior international development experience, although you will need to demonstrate that you can build effective working relationships with overseas counterparts. Experience of working within a complex fundraising environment would be highly advantageous though. For this role, we are also as keen to hear from experienced directors who are excited by what we do as we are from those for whom this would be their first senior leadership role.

We have an ambitious agenda and are poised for growth, aiming to double or income from £3m in 5 years with a particular focus on increasing unrestricted income. Camphill is a worldwide movement with over 100 independent charities (often referred to as 'communities') supporting individuals with additional support needs to lead meaningful lives and to reach their fullest potential. The organisation began here, in Scotland, in 1939 through a group of Austrian refugees. They sought societal change in the way disadvantaged and vulnerable people were treated and cared for.
There are 11 Camphill charities in Scotland, from Aberdeen to Dumfries and Galloway, supporting over 500 people from early childhood through to older age. In Aberdeen, Camphill Estates owns the land occupied by 6 of them. They are independent charities but work together under the Camphill Estates umbrella for the common good.
Historically, Camphill Estates had one Fundraising Manager to generate voluntary raised funds and to support all of the communities to fundraise for themselves. This all changed three years ago when this new post was created, representing a sea change in the organisation’s thinking.
It followed a master plan which was drawn up with the help of consultants who reviewed the needs of the estate. This process produced a lengthy list of capital build projects for 5 of the 6 charities that are necessary to improve the buildings and the opportunities for the service users. The cost of delivering those projects was an estimated £15million with the focus on improvements to Camphill School and the residential units.
A highly experience fundraiser was appointed to create and lead the capital campaign to raise the required £15m funding, within a ten-year period. Three years on, the campaign has met with great success - £4.5m has been raised already. They also built a very strong and focussed fundraising team of five, raised the profile of the campaign in the local area and built strong working relationships with all the five partner charities.
Sadly, the current capital appeal fundraiser is moving on from Camphill Estates to live overseas, and Camphill Estates are looking for a new senior fundraiser to lead the appeal and carry on the good work. In the three years since the appeal was launched, further capital requirements have emerged, and a new charity (Murtle Market) has been created. The appeal total has therefore been reset at £15m and again, ten years has been set as the timescale.
The Board has set aside a healthy budget which allows the Director of Fundraising to build a team to deliver success. It will be up to the Director to devise a strategy and manage the team of five fundraisers to reach the new income goal.
Crucially, Board do not see this appeal as an end in itself. Such a varied and evolving group of charities will always have a capital fundraising requirement and are therefore happy to offer this role as a permanent position, not linked to the current appeal target or length.
How To Apply
You are advised to get in touch well in advance of the closing date to give us time to consider your application and pre-interview the strongest applicants.
Closing Date: 5pm, Friday 17th May

For more than 50 years, the British Dyslexia Association (BDA) has been the voice of people living with dyslexia. We aim to influence government and other institutions to promote a dyslexia friendly society that enables dyslexic people of all ages to reach their full potential. The BDA is established as the leading dyslexia charity in the UK.
Unfortunately, the need for our support and services is high. Although awareness of dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties has grown, there are ongoing and widening gaps in access to the identification of dyslexia and the provision of expert learning support. Our national Helpline is busier than ever, supporting almost 5,500 people each year, reminding us on a daily basis why we must keep fighting for the rights of our beneficiaries.
Against a challenging backdrop for so many organisations, last financial year we saw continued growth in income from fundraising and training. We invested in growing our team and identified five strategic objectives for the period 2023-2026, and activities are currently underway to deliver these priorities. Our next CEO will continue to oversee these whilst laying the foundations for our next strategy cycle which we intend to publish in 2026. As such, the timing of this appointment allows the successful candidate the opportunity to work with the Board and other key stakeholders to articulate the long-term vision for our charity, establishing a plan that enables us to expand our reach and deepen our programmes.
The role of CEO at the BDA is one of both challenge and immense reward, offering the chance to lead a passionate and skilled team dedicated to making a tangible difference in society. The ideal candidate will bring strategic thinking, leadership experience and a commitment to promoting inclusion for our beneficiaries in education, in work and in life. The successful candidate will also need to demonstrate their financial acumen and business development and delivery skills, as achieving our mission will depend on financial security and sustainability.
We are excited about the next stage in our development as a charity and the opportunity to support even more people with dyslexia to reach their full potential. If you would like to be part of that journey, then we would love to hear from you.

Redemption Roasters is looking for a new Head of Impact to join them in their mission to reduce reoffending rates through coffee.
Who we are
Redemption Roasters is a specialty coffee company that believes that reoffending in the UK can be reduced through coffee.
At their roastery at HMP The Mount, Redemption Roasters trains residents in barista, coffee production and roasting skills as well as roasting incredible coffee for its range of London coffee shops and network of over 100 wholesale clients. The company also runs barista academies at 9 other prisons.
The UK’s reoffending rates are amongst the highest in the western world, and it’s costly on both a national and personal level. If prisoners find employment, they are 50% less likely to return to prison. There is always a job for a good barista or roaster, and that’s why Redemption Roasters is doing this work. They want to show the coffee community and the world that a positive commercial environment can be created behind bars and that exceptional specialty coffee can come from places and people you wouldn’t expect.
About the role
As a social enterprise, we strive for profit in order to achieve our purpose. The Head of Impact will be responsible for the social mission of the business and will ensure that it remains at the heart of what Redemption Roasters does. The person in this role will manage the company’s education channel, including developing strategy; overseeing delivery; and reporting on social impact outcomes. In addition, the person in this role will act as a key partner and ambassador for the brand in its relationships with education client companies; third-party employers; beneficiary mentors/social workers; and the wider Criminal Justice Sector. The Head of Impact is responsible for a team of 7 and reports to the Directors.
Who we are looking for
First and foremost, we are looking for someone who shares our passion for challenging perceptions and changing lives through specialty coffee. The successful candidate will be someone who is driven by seeing others succeed and the idea that achieving greater impact can lead to more success for an even wider range of people.
It is important to us that the person in this role brings a strong leadership track record in the third sector combined with the knowledge, skills, and experience to operate successfully in a commercial environment. Ultimately, this role is about using profit to deliver on purpose, and we are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have a history of achieving both profit and purpose in previous roles. It is essential that our Head of Impact is professional, proactive, and excellent at building relationships with people at all levels and from all backgrounds, in addition to being someone who has a strong track record in recruiting and retaining excellent talent.

Location: Liverpool or hybrid

Salary: Day rate, negotiable with a guideline of £300-500 per day
About the organisation
The organisational motto is 'the same rights, different needs'. This charity believes that every individual has the right to access services available to them. They help services to understand that every individual is just that, an individual who has varying levels of support needs. They advocate for fair and just treatment for communities facing racial inequalities. The organisation was set up specifically to meet the needs of the racialised and immigrant communities in Liverpool's L8.
In 2022/23, their services supported over 600 individuals and families across Liverpool, including an increase in newly arrived asylum seekers and refugees needing to access services. While the organisation wants to remain responsive to the prevailing needs of a changing community, they also want to ensure that they stay true to the origins of the organisation in tackling the gross inequities faced to this present day, predominantly by Black people in the mental health system.
