Doorstep Library is a community-focused literacy charity dedicated to bringing the magic of books and the joy of reading directly into the homes of children who need our support. We are looking for an experienced fundraiser to head up our fundraising and marketing teams.
With one in four 11-year-olds leaving primary school unable to read or write properly, we recruit and train home and online reading volunteers to go into disadvantaged areas of London to help introduce young children (aged 0-11 years) to the pleasure and benefits of reading.
Our unique home-based service, whether in person or online, enables us to find the most appropriate books for every child we visit and build a relationship with the whole family. Our goal is to help children develop the self-confidence and essential skills they need to access all the opportunities that will come their way in life.
We also empower parents/carers to create and maintain a supportive environment by signposting them to local services and community support. Our projects not only improve literacy but also increase family wellbeing and bonding. JOB SUMMARY

JOB PURPOSE
· Strategic responsibility for fundraising, including partnership development and maintaining the charity’s strong relationships with our wide range of funding partners;
· Strategic responsibility for marketing, to increase the charity’s profile and increase engagement;
· To work closely with the SMT and actively contribute to the overall strategy and direction of the charity;
· To manage and build upon the income streams for the charity;
· To manage the charity’s fundraising operations including coordinating prospect research and prioritisation, managing workflows, and ensuring effective stewardship of donors, corporate supporters and trust and foundations grants;

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Head of Fundraising to report to the Chief Executive Officer. The successful candidate will sit on the Senior Management Team, working closely with the CEO, Head of Operations and Head of Delivery and Engagement.
You will have substantial, proven experience of working in fundraising and of developing and sustaining partnerships, ideally in the third sector, and of how to build financial sustainability. You will be a highly organised people-person and will be responsible for line managing two Fundraising and Marketing Officers.
You will bring excellent communication skills and the ability to inspire others about our work. With outstanding interpersonal skills, you will have the ability to forge new relationships and you will thrive on enhancing our current partnerships and identifying and creating new ones.
Finally, you will be truly passionate about the work that we do to support children and families in disadvantaged areas of London and be driven to share our work with as many people as possible.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Development and delivery of the charity’s fundraising strategy
· To work closely with the CEO and trustee board to lead on the development, planning and delivery the Doorstep Library’s fundraising strategy, with further development of a longer-term strategy;
· To manage and build upon the income streams for the charity;
· To take a lead on application bids, including managing, monitoring and evaluating all funding applications;
· To work closely with the SMT and actively contribute to the overall strategy and direction of the charity;
Grow, develop and sustain our partnerships and income streams
· To lead, deliver and grow our existing relationships with all of our funding partners; foundations, corporates, independent schools and individual donors to raise circa £850K pa;
· To identify new potential partners, working closely with the CEO and board of trustees to develop these partnerships;
· To establish a corporate supporters programme and individual giving campaigns, plus develop effective stewardship systems;
· To have responsibility for retaining and engaging the charity’s supporters, this includes providing formal reports and updates on the work of the charity;
· Working with the Fundraising and Marketing Officers to effectively communicate the impact of our work to internal and external stakeholders;
Communications
· Work with the Marketing Officer to implement improvements to our digital presence, including website optimization, social media strategy, and online advertising campaigns;
· Research and analyse sector news/ developments;
· Oversee the creation of the annual report and impact report;
· Create and maintain a stock of case studies/ success stories and photos;
· Monitor and report on the effectiveness of fundraising strategies and campaigns;
Line Management
· To have direct line management responsibility for the Fundraising and Marketing Officers;

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Criteria
1. A proven track record of delivery results in fundraising and/or partnership management
2. Knowledge of successful fundraising from a variety of sources, including at least two of corporates, major donors, individual giving, local authorities and trusts & foundations
3. Proven experience in securing five figure gifts, managing the donor cycle from initial stages through to stewardship
4. The ability to maintain current income streams and identify opportunities for growth
5. Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, succinctly and in an engaging manner in person and in writing to a variety of audiences
6. Strong relationship building skills – experience of working with a wide range of people, from large corporate teams to potential individual donors

About the role

2. Job Description
The Head of External Engagement is a key leadership post within the organisation. The role encompasses responsibility for the development and delivery of the organisation’s external activity, including profile, brand identity and stakeholder engagement (including the public), fundraising, and driving income generation in new areas, notably commercial partnerships. It also forms part of Sound and Music’s senior management team, who under the leadership of the Chief Executive are responsible for overseeing the organisation’s programme of activity, strategic development, external profile and a positive and productive organisational culture.
An experienced fundraiser and communicator, you will lead the external engagement team and support the delivery of its strategic and operational plans. The broad remit of the role means the successful candidate will be a strong and confident communicator who builds networks easily and prioritises exceptional stakeholder management and relationship development.

3. Key Responsibilities
Leadership and management
External leadership:
· Represent Sound and Music publicly, including through stakeholder and supporter events
· Work with the Head of Programmes to ensure Sound and Music’s advisory groups are meaningfully engaged

Internal leadership:
· Shared strategic responsibility and accountability for Sound and Music’s three core aims and their associated objectives, outcomes and outputs

· Develop and support the Chief Executive on the overall business and development strategy for the organisation to ensure we meet fundraising targets (£200k in 2024-25) for annual programmes and major projects
· Develop an ambitious fundraising programme which builds our supporter base and individual funding streams, including individuals, major gifts and public funders
· Drive income growth by identifying and negotiating commercial partnerships and contribute to the development of an enhanced commercial mindset across the organisation
· Develop and cultivate the existing trusts and foundations pipeline
· Prepare documents and reports for key funders including Arts Council England

Strategy and planning

This includes reporting and presenting to the Board and externally to help build engagement and relationships in the sector and with funders
· Assess the reputational, financial, delivery and other risks associated with current and new projects and partnerships
· Empower, model, support and encourage cross-team working to realise the full income generating possibilities of projects
Finance and governance
· Contribute to creating and monitoring the overall organisation budget
· Work closely with the Chief Executive, Head of Programmes and Finance Manager to formulate financial strategy against specified budget areas, and to ensure that the programme activity is sufficiently resourced, planned and delivered to budget

As the Head of Finance at SAINT, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the church. Reporting into the Chief Executive Officer and the Honorary Treasurers, you will focus on the full accounting process and delivery of financial guidance for the parishes, and other related charities.

SAINT is one church with multiple Church of England parishes, across East London, which work together in collaboration. The Head of Finance role is a permanent, full-time position with an opportunity for a hybrid working arrangement. The church offices are in a new, light-filled building next to the St. John at Hackney Church. You will be working alongside a closely integrated team of 40 staff and clergy, all with exceptional skills within their ministries.
The key duties of this Head of Finance role are as follows:
- Work with Pastoral Leads to help develop and execute the financial strategy supporting SAINT's mission and goals.
- Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making and advise on financial strategies.
- Prepare consolidated accounts for the entire church group, combining financial data from all churches and entities under SAINT.

The successful candidate will have:
- Qualified as an Accountant with professional body membership (ACCA, ACA, or equivalent).

- Experience of producing statutory accounts, management accounts, cash flow forecasts, budgets and other financial reports.
- Knowledge of UK charity accounting and reporting regulations is an advantage.

About the Youth Endowment Fund
We’re here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice.
In recent years violent crime has risen significantly. Homicides, assaults, robberies and offences involving weapons have all seen growth. We have also seen increases in violent crime involving children and young people. This is a tragedy. Every child captured in these numbers is an important member of our community and society has a duty to protect them.
The Youth Endowment Fund exists to try and permanently change things. To succeed, we must build a fantastic body of knowledge about violence affecting young people and how we reduce it. This knowledge has to be both rigorous and highly relevant to those making decisions about how to support vulnerable young people. We need to find out what works and what doesn’t through evidence synthesis, data analysis and qualitative research into children’s lives.
We also need to understand the underlying causes of violence and which children are most in need of support. This is where your role is so important.
Your key responsibilities
As the Research Lead on causes of violence, you will be an essential part of the YEF team. You will
- Lead the YEF’s research into the causes and nature of violence in England and Wales. You’ll investigate questions like:
- Why does violence happen? What seems to protect children or put them at greater risk?
- Are there particular locations or times where violence happens most often?
- Why do people desist from violence and how can we support this process?
- How can we use this information effectively and ethically?
- Make sure we invest in research that fills important gaps in knowledge and leads to important changes. This could include commissioning:
- Systematic reviews on issues like child criminal exploitation, drug markets and children’s experiences of involvement in violence.
- Detailed analysis of individual cases of violence. You’ll commission research teams to explore:
- How we can learn about the causes and contexts of violence through rich mixed methods analysis of individual cases.
- Whether we can learn generalisable lessons from a sample of cases.
- Other new primary research such as quantitative analysis of existing datasets, rich qualitative exploration of children’s experiences or working with our large number of young people trained as peer researchers (as part of the Peer Action Collective).
- You will create accessible summaries of key pieces of research. This could include:
- A systematic review (funded by YEF) of existing research.
- Key criminological insights about the nature of crime and violence.
- You’ll create useful tools and resources (similar to our Toolkit) which support decision-makers to apply insights from your work. This could include guidance to commissioners on how to understand the nature of violence in their area, the needs of local children, and
- You’ll develop great relationships with experts and represent YEF in external meetings and events. You’ll promote our research by speaking at conferences and events.
- You’ll work with our Change team to identify opportunities for our research to influence policy and practice, and bring about positive changes that will keep children safe.
- You’ll have line management responsibility for a Research Manager. You’ll ensure they contribute effectively to your portfolio of work.

This position will report to the Head of Programmes and oversee Media Trust's thematic strategic communications programmes that strengthen the voices of charities. Our thematic programmes support cohorts of charities working in the same area, including equalities and social justice (our Stronger Voices programme) and environmental and climate issues (our Communicating Climate programme.)
In the context of rising levels of inequality, the media and policymakers need to hear from the people whose lives are most affected. In this role, you will support user-led organisations campaigning for systemic change to speak truth to power.
Our six-month strategic communications training programmes are designed to support charities and community organisations to amplify their voice, mobilise support and influence meaningful change. These programmes include in-person and virtual training, mentoring and support from industry experts, and tailored digital resources.
This role will directly manage our Stronger Voices programme, ensuring the smooth delivery of the programme, including managing our cohort of equalities organisations; overseeing the budget and timeline; managing our relationships with funders, trainers and partners; and impact evaluation and reporting.
You will also oversee our other thematic programmes (currently Communicating Climate). You will line manage the Project Manager of Communicating Climate and a Project Coordinator.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone committed to social justice, with strong programme management skills, an understanding of strategic communications and a passion for empowering the charity sector through training and mentorship. *Please note that whilst this is a remote role, Stronger Voices is a London-based programme, so proximity to London will be beneficial for delivering in-person activity for the cohort.

Role Purpose:
This exciting role will form part of the senior team leading CAF’s strategic consultancy work with charities, corporates, private clients, trusts/foundations and the public sector. The Senior Adviser will implement and execute the advisory strategy in the wider context of the Impact Accelerator, CAF’s impact hub, exploiting synergies with the social investment and grant making teams, identifying innovation and growing impact through more strategic giving as well as driving advisory income.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic consultancy
- Responsible for leading high-quality strategic consultancy work with charities, corporates, private clients, trusts and foundations and public sector alongside other senior advisers.
- Lead day-to-day management of key client assignments including project and resource management as well as delivery.
- Responsible for delivery of high-quality written assignments to clients.
- Present invaluable and practical strategic advice and insight to senior leadership in charities, corporates or public sector as well as (ultra) high net worth individuals.
- Work in close collaboration with grant making and social investment colleagues to deliver a fully bespoke, impactful offering to clients.
Strategy and leadership
- Lead and mentor team of advisers, providing guidance and training, supported by robust performance management and personal development opportunities in line with strategy.
- Implement and refine where necessary advisory strategy in conjunction with other senior advisers and Head of Impact and Advisory.
- Ensure alignment with CAF’s theory of change and delivery against identified outputs and outcomes.
- Work with Growth and Performance Lead on operational and process needs relating to advisory and the Impact Accelerator more generally.
- Contribute to strategic Impact Accelerator initiatives where necessary.
Business development and client development
- Responsible for driving growth and innovation in CAF’s advisory offering, ensuring it remains relevant in an ever-changing world and aligned with client needs.
- Identify key opportunities to grow fee income, lead proposals/pitches and contribute proportionally to team fee income targets.
- Work closely with business development function and cultivate relationships with other key referral partners within CAF and externally.
- Lead retention and growth of CAF clients through effective client management - focus on multi-year, multi service contracts that combine advisory, grant making and social investment expertise.
Thought leadership and training
- Mentor and upskill other members of the Impact Accelerator team as well as other colleagues where relevant, sharing expertise and skills both informally and formally. Promote CAF externally as a thought leader and a partner of choice for donors and charities alike.
- Represent CAF at events, share best practice, produce thought leading articles and maintain relevant sector networks.
- Work with colleagues in the UK and across the CAF global network to maximise opportunities and to share learning and best practice.

- Responsible for budgeting multi-year programmes and projects.
