We are looking for a proactive and collaborative individual to join the People Team as Employee Experience Partner, for a 12-month maternity cover fixed term contract (to start in May 2024).

About the role

As Employee Experience Partner, you'll be a strategic enabler to both the organisation and People Team, responsible for creating innovative, sustainable interventions that look to evolve the individual and group employee experience (EX) for our people for now and for our future workforce. 

Accountable for the end-to-end evaluation and improvement of the EX-journey, you'll work closely and proactively with stakeholders across the organisation to identify, deliver and review the impact of key EX initiatives that align with our People, Organisation's, and DEI strategies.

Leading customer-centric process design and engaging with colleagues to agree improvement activities driven by data, you'll play a key role in enabling teams to improve the ‘moments that matter' for our employees.

You'll also hold accountability for delivering “Your Voice”, SCUK's quarterly engagement survey, gathering employee feedback via Peakon (our survey partner) and analysing that data to identify trends and areas for improvement, as well as building on our employee data proposition, to identify and connect the relevant metrics to help us understand engagement, behaviour, and performance.

In this role, you will:

• Be responsible for the leadership and implementation of cross-divisional and organisation wide projects in the EX arena, to diagnose, design and implement a variety of solutions based on data and insights.
• Provide leadership and act as the role model on all matters relating to EX, especially enabling People Team colleagues to understand the employee journey and how they can contribute and support associated plans to become a reality for the organisation.
• Support the development of SCUK's Employee Value Proposition (EVP) reflective of the employer brand and aligned to our culture, mission and values.
• Review and create ways to measure and assess engagement, working in partnership with Comms to create a clear employee voice that is heard, aligned, and supports the employee value proposition/EX (through listening channels, surveys, and other methods of feedback).
• Identify opportunities to enable and leverage agility across teams and organisation, providing leadership on Agile principles and techniques. Specifically supporting HR change leads on blending and implementing the appropriate methods (Agile, Lean and Design Thinking) to deliver change at the pace required to meet SCUK objectives.
• Support and advise on the deployment of relevant IT systems and platforms to support in the engagement and development of employees.

Ways of Working:

The majority of our roles can be performed remotely in the UK, but there are likely to be times when you will be required to come to your contracted office (up to 2-4 days per month or 6-8 days per quarter).  The People Team currently meet once a month in-person at our Farringdon office and other times will be based on business need.

Doorstep Library is a community-focused literacy charity dedicated to bringing the magic of books and the joy of reading directly into the homes of children who need our support. We are looking for an experienced fundraiser to head up our fundraising and marketing teams.

With one in four 11-year-olds leaving primary school unable to read or write properly, we recruit and train home and online reading volunteers to go into disadvantaged areas of London to help introduce young children (aged 0-11 years) to the pleasure and benefits of reading.

Our unique home-based service, whether in person or online, enables us to find the most appropriate books for every child we visit and build a relationship with the whole family. Our goal is to help children develop the self-confidence and essential skills they need to access all the opportunities that will come their way in life.

JOB SUMMARY

Job Title: Head of Fundraising

Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent

Hours per week: 35 (excluding breaks)

JOB PURPOSE

· Strategic responsibility for fundraising, including partnership development and maintaining the charity’s strong relationships with our wide range of funding partners;

· Strategic responsibility for marketing, to increase the charity’s profile and increase engagement;

· To work closely with the SMT and actively contribute to the overall strategy and direction of the charity;

· To manage and build upon the income streams for the charity;

· To manage the charity’s fundraising operations including coordinating prospect research and prioritisation, managing workflows, and ensuring effective stewardship of donors, corporate supporters and trust and foundations grants;

· To oversee the charity’s marketing operations, including digital and printed content creation.  

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Head of Fundraising to report to the Chief Executive Officer. The successful candidate will sit on the Senior Management Team, working closely with the CEO, Head of Operations and Head of Delivery and Engagement.

You will have substantial, proven experience of working in fundraising and of developing and sustaining partnerships, ideally in the third sector, and of how to build financial sustainability. You will be a highly organised people-person and will be responsible for line managing two Fundraising and Marketing Officers.

You will bring excellent communication skills and the ability to inspire others about our work.  With outstanding interpersonal skills, you will have the ability to forge new relationships and you will thrive on enhancing our current partnerships and identifying and creating new ones. 

Finally, you will be truly passionate about the work that we do to support children and families in disadvantaged areas of London and be driven to share our work with as many people as possible.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

Development and delivery of the charity’s fundraising strategy

· To work closely with the CEO and trustee board to lead on the development, planning and delivery the Doorstep Library’s fundraising strategy, with further development of a longer-term strategy;

· To manage and build upon the income streams for the charity;

· To take a lead on application bids, including managing, monitoring and evaluating all funding applications;

· To work closely with the SMT and actively contribute to the overall strategy and direction of the charity;

Grow, develop and sustain our partnerships and income streams

· To lead, deliver and grow our existing relationships with all of our funding partners; foundations, corporates, independent schools and individual donors to raise circa £850K pa;

· To identify new potential partners, working closely with the CEO and board of trustees to develop these partnerships;

· To establish a corporate supporters programme and individual giving campaigns, plus develop effective stewardship systems;

· To have responsibility for retaining and engaging the charity’s supporters, this includes providing formal reports and updates on the work of the charity;

· Working with the Fundraising and Marketing Officers to effectively communicate the impact of our work to internal and external stakeholders;

Communications

· Work with the Marketing Officer to implement improvements to our digital presence, including website optimization, social media strategy, and online advertising campaigns;

· Research and analyse sector news/ developments; 

· Oversee the creation of the annual report and impact report;

· Create and maintain a stock of case studies/ success stories and photos; 

· Monitor and report on the effectiveness of fundraising strategies and campaigns; 

Line Management

· To have direct line management responsibility for the Fundraising and Marketing Officers;

· To create an environment where the team feels fully supported and enabled to grow and develop under your management;

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Criteria

1.  A proven track record of delivery results in fundraising and/or partnership management

2.  Knowledge of successful fundraising from a variety of sources, including at least two of corporates, major donors, individual giving, local authorities and trusts & foundations

3.  Proven experience in securing five figure gifts, managing the donor cycle from initial stages through to stewardship

4.  The ability to maintain current income streams and identify opportunities for growth

5.  Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, succinctly and in an engaging manner in person and in writing to a variety of audiences

6.  Strong relationship building skills – experience of working with a wide range of people, from large corporate teams to potential individual donors

7.  Highly organised – ability to manage a number of projects and tasks at the same time

8.  Ability to generate and implement new ideas and see them through to completion

9.  A positive team player, working with, supporting and encouraging colleagues

10.   Ability to work flexibly, adapting to rapidly changing demands and opportunities while retaining a clear strategic focus

11.    Excellent organisation and administration skills, with the ability to pay attention to detail and use office systems

1.Experience of line managing and developing staff in their fundraising abilities

As Head of Trusts and Foundations, you will:

• Lead on the planning and delivery of the trusts, foundations and statutory strategy to grow both restricted and unrestricted income
• Develop and oversee a portfolio and pipeline of high value trusts, foundations and statutory funders
• Write compelling funding proposals to engage new donors to give at the 6- and 7-figure level to ensure long term growth and sustainability
• Work collaboratively with the delivery teams to ensure effective grant management, stewardship and reporting for funders
• Work closely with the delivery teams to develop new projects and cases for support, and refine existing projects to meet the emerging needs of beneficiaries
• Develop engagement opportunities for prospective and warm funders to bring them closer to London Youth’s mission

Join us as our Director of Finance and IT at War Child UK, a pivotal role within our Leadership Group reporting directly to Helen Pattinson, CEO. Your role is to lead our finance and IT, but as a member of our leadership group to take joint responsibility with other Directors for leading the organisation.

As Finance and IT Director, you'll lead the optimisation of our finance and IT systems to streamline recording and reporting of financial transactions. You will be a qualified accountant with exceptional strategic and operational experience. You do not necessarily need to have prior international development experience, although you will need to demonstrate that you can build effective working relationships with overseas counterparts. Urban Saints are looking to recruit a new Communications Manager to join the team. This is a critical role, where you will be taking a lead to ensure that Urban Saints' internal and external communications are as effective as they can be. You will manage the Communications Team to ensure effective delivery of our communications strategy that promotes the identity and values of Urban Saints. Working with all other branches of Urban Saints, you will also maintain overall responsibility for ensuring that Urban Saints communicates well with the wide range of audiences we are seeking to connect with.

This senior role will manage and oversee OTR’s Wellbeing services, which include our listening support and counselling offerings for young people in the community and at schools, colleges, and universities across BaNES, and will also include our new social prescribing service.

The post holder will be part of OTR’s senior management team (SMT), working closely with the Head of Voice Services and Head of Resources as well as the CEO to actively oversee the growth and development of the organisation, and delivery of our strategy.

Overall purpose

Provide strategic financial leadership for Baca and be accountable for the provision of financial and performance information to enable the Leadership Team and the Board to ensure Baca is financially sustainable for the purpose of achieving its vision and mission.

Core skill will be as a qualified accountant but you will demonstrate a range of experience leading teams and delivering a range of projects across the organisation using a joint working approach. As a member of the Leadership Team, you will work alongside other senior leaders to shape the strategic direction of the charity and ensure that its aims and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Resource Planning, Budgeting and Reporting

• To direct Baca annual budget setting and longer term strategic financial planning, with robust analysis of income, expenditure, forecasts and cashflow.
• To deliver high quality financial reporting, providing advice and support, in writing and verbally, as required for the Leadership Team, the Finance and Fundraising sub-group and the Board of Trustees.
• To ensure budget holders receive up to date timely and accurate management accounts and information in order to maintain day to day control of the expenditure budget.
• Encouraging innovation and seeking best practice from inside and outside the sector.
• Identifying and responding to long-term strategic risks, challenges and opportunities to enable Baca achieving its Strategic Goals.
• Continually enhance the processes and procedures in place for resource allocation and monitoring at all levels of the charity
• Provide proactive assessment of opportunities to deliver efficiencies in collaboration with departments where necessary.

Leadership and Organisational Responsibilities

• As a member of the Leadership Team (LT), be a role model in practicing Baca’s values in order to achieve our Vision and Mission, prioritising the outcomes of the young people in all activities of the role.
• Together with the CEO, ensure all members of work with the Finance and Fundraising sub-group are regularly informed of all key strategic activity by leading the executive input and support to the Finance and Fundraising sub-group.
• Support the CEO to undertake negotiations with other organisations where necessary on matters of securing of resources.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with internal policy and procedures alongside external requirements of Charity Commission and Companies House.
• Undertake and deliver in the role as Company Secretary
• Steward Baca’s resources to effectively, economically and efficiently to achieve our Vision and Mission in line with our Values.
• Communicate effectively, internally and externally, ensuring accurate and efficient flow of information across the organisation ensuring finance plans are understood and supported by all involved with the organisation.
• Lead on financial aspects of subsidiary businesses if relevant
• Work at all times within the policies and procedures of Baca
• Respect at all times the confidentiality of information covering young people, staff and volunteers.
• Play an active part in the development and maintenance of good relationships with all who have business with Baca.
• Be proactive and willing to undertake other duties to help maintain our high standard of support and responsibility towards the young people we serve.

Financial Systems, Control and Accounting

• Oversee the integrity of all financial systems: Develop, monitor and manage the organisation’s financial systems, policies, procedures and internal controls and the development of a consistent approach across Baca.
• To lead the preparation of the organisation’s accounts for audit in accordance with current accounting good practice and Charity Commission’s Standards of Recommended Practice (SORP), liaising with the auditors and present the final accounts to the Finance and Fundraising sub-group and Board for approval.
• To be responsible for adhering to financial delegated authorities as agreed with the Chief Executive and Board.
• To implement, oversee and review Baca’s systems of financial risk management and controls assurance.
• To ensure the purchasing system operates effectively, ensuring sufficient supplies and services by working closely with the Operations Director.
• To lead the payroll provision and ensure that salary and related payments are made accurately and timely.
• To ensure that an appropriate register of assets are maintained accurately.
• To ensure that Baca has adequate cash holdings and cash is moved to interest bearing accounts as appropriate in line with Baca’s ethical asset management policy.

Team and People Management:

• Create, lead, manage, inspire and develop the finance team promoting Baca’s values by being visible, participative and encouraging cross team working
• Effectively manage the performance of the team, ensuring they are working to agreed objectives, delivering outcomes and that they receive appropriate training and support.
• Support theteam in day to day troubleshooting and administration where necessary.
• Develop and deliver integrated annual strategic objectives for all direct reports and their teams
• To keep abreast of legislation affecting financial accounting, that may be relevant to Baca, and to keep the Chief Executive fully aware of any relevant changes in the law.

An essential part of our Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Growth is responsible for managing our funding and partnership team, driving revenue growth, and expanding our network of supporters and collaborators.

Objectives

•To create and support opportunities to enable the growth of the Foundation through strategic planning and partnership development

•To oversee and manage the Partnerships and Funding teams within the Growth department

•To achieve the financial targets and outcomes within the Growth department, whilst contributing to the overall strategic direction and decision making of the charity.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Revenue diversification: Explore new programme opportunities and revenue streams to increase the sustainability of the charity

Innovation: Working with delivery and infrastructure departments, support the implementation of new growth initiatives

Team management: Support the Relationship Manager and the development of new partnerships / sponsorship for the Foundation, The Nest and Run Norwich

Securing funding: Support the Funding Manager and the development of funding applications, donations and showcasing our impact

Budget management: Achieve growth budgets and perform monthly income checks with the finance team

Project management: Play an active role in supporting new project design

Collaboration: To work with and support the Executive team with gaining and developing new opportunities through local authorities, statutory agents and third sector organisations

Contract management: To oversee and manage specific contracts and obligations that support income generation for the charity

Strategy management: Support Senior Leadership Team members to implement all initiatives within the Growth Strategy

Fundraising initiatives: Explore the use of technology to develop new income generation ideas and efficiencies within the organisation

Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone is a 21st century youth hub located at the heart of Blackburn and a dedicated site in Darwen, open to young people aged 5 to 25 years old, aiming to change the prospects offered to young people in the area. Our vision is to be at the heart of the community, collaborating to create a more cohesive and prosperous Blackburn and Darwen.

We are one of the leading youth organisations in Blackburn, with a membership of over 5000 young people. We are open 7 days a week, 52 weeks of a year and offer over 40 different activities and opportunities in our open-access youth club.

Context of Role:

Our Head of Young People's Services is a critical, strategic and operational role within Blackburn and Darwen Youth Zone. As a supporting member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you will work closely with the Director of Operations, CEO and the Director of Finance to ensure the charity delivers its vision and strategic objectives. This includes strategies for sustaining and overseeing the ongoing transformation of Blackburn and Darwen Youth Zones' operational business plan and its operational processes and infrastructure. Your leadership skills will play a crucial role (in conjunction with the leadership team) in establishing a platform and environment for growth by creating a best-in-class, people-first, employee-of-choice that changes the prospect of local children and young people (aged 5 to 25 years). You must be abreast of new opportunities (sourced independently and through your colleagues) and advise the leadership team and board on all Universal and Targeted Service operational matters, including its performance, risk, forecast/trajectories, and the general state of play. 

You will need to show exceptional skills and the ability to meet KPI’s relating to (but, not limited to) leadership skills, the ability to design and deliver organisational operational plans, risk management, departmental budget management, stakeholder relations and organisational safeguarding responsibility.
