Fundraising income is vital to our work on and off-stage and after a recent strategic review, we’ve identified that there is untapped potential and significant room for growth across all levels and forms.  To meet our ambitions for this next level of fundraising activity and outcomes, we are seeking a creative, talented and collaborative fundraiser to join us and lead our efforts in this area.

As our new Director of Fundraising, you will bring a track record of philanthropic and grant income generation, along with well-developed influencing, negotiation and inter-personal skills.  You will be strategic, organised and ambitious for the Rep, and excited by an opportunity to join a team that is looking for a fresh approach and to build something.  As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will need to gain credibility quickly and become a trusted colleague - someone who understands what it takes to operate in a fast-paced environment and work with the detail, without losing sight of the bigger picture.  The Fundraising team is growing and quite new, so you will develop and inspire them to rise to the challenge of what’s to come.

About the role  

Smart Works is volunteer-powered and exists to empower all women who need help getting into work. As such, a fantastic opportunity has arisen for a proactive self-starter with outstanding leadership skills to take on the pivotal role of being the Head of Smart Works Scotland. Reporting to the Chair of the Trustee Board, the role is responsible for developing and delivering our core strategies and for the overall operation of our two centres in Glasgow and Edinburgh. 

In practice, this involves leading a small staff team to thrive in their roles and deliver outstanding results, with direct line management responsibilities for 3 team members out of 8. It also includes representing our charity to a range of stakeholders across the region, contributing to our ambitious client targets and unlocking vital funds to deliver the Three Year Plan. 

A major focus of this role will be to deliver, and support team members to aid delivery, of our annual fundraising target (c. £400k) via, grants and trusts, corporate partnerships, fundraising events, and identifying new income streams. 

The Head of Smart Works Scotland must build strong working relationships with the staff team and Board of Trustees, foster excellent collaborations with a variety of stakeholders and have significant experience across multiple fundraising streams. 

Whilst the successful individual will be supported by the Chair, Board of Trustees and colleagues in other centres, they will be expected to work autonomously and confidently in carrying out their duties. There may be occasional evening and weekend work in order to support fundraising, networking and key events as required. 

The role will be based in our Edinburgh or Glasgow centre, and flexible working options are available.

Duties and responsibilities

• Leading a staff team of 8 across two centres, ensuring all team members are thriving in their roles and continuing to develop their skills.
• Supporting each direct report with project deliverables and identifying continuous improvement opportunities in our ways of working. 
• Oversee the smooth running of both centres, ensuring all client and service delivery targets are on track and all protocols such as safeguarding and governance are adhered to.
• Setting and delivering our core strategies, across all functional areas. 
• Working with various staff members on targeted campaigns and corporate partnerships, providing guidance and support on the annual fundraising target c. £400k via our three revenue streams - Corporate, Community and Events, Grants and Trusts. 
• Manage the day-to-day costs of the budget, contributing to timely process reconciliation with the Board Treasurer and Group Finance Team.
• Delivering financial activities to target, maintaining an up to date database with relevant income tracking and pipeline information to facilitate regular financial reporting to the Board of Trustees and timely process reconciliation with the Board Treasurer and Group Finance team.
• Supporting the team to raise awareness of our charity and increase our supporter community through social media campaigns and in-person events throughout the year. 

Personal Specification 

Essential Criteria

• Outstanding interpersonal and team management / leadership skills.
• Significant experience of generating income from a variety of sources, including Events, Trusts, Foundations, Community and Corporate sponsorship.
• Demonstrable experience of securing new business and onboarding new partnerships. 
• Experience of managing four figure+ partnerships across the following activities: employee fundraising, sponsorship, commercial or grants.
• A strong networker, with relationship management experience across seniority levels and sectors. 
• Strong presentation skills, with prior experience delivering engaging sessions to large audiences. 
• Experience of balancing changing priorities and responding to delivery needs.
• Proactive approach to problem solving, with an entrepreneurial attitude towards fundraising strategy.
• Ability to work autonomously and also have a strong team focus and ethic.
• Good working knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, CRM systems.
• Target driven, with excellent organisation and time management skills to meet deadlines and monthly / quarterly KPIs. 

Desirable Criteria

• An understanding of the employment and skills landscape in Scotland.
• Experience of working collaboratively with volunteer teams and / or in the not for profit sector.
• Financially aware, able to interpret basic financial accounts for reporting purposes.

Following a recent team restructure, we are now ready to recruit our new Head of Alumni Programming. This position is part of the Alumni Engagement team within the Cambridge University Development and Alumni Relations office. The Alumni Engagement team is accountable for increasing the breadth and depth of engagement with the University's global community of over 320,000 alumni ambassadors, advocates and supporters who are critical to the delivery of our strategic goals and the University of Cambridge's significant potential.

This role will oversee a small team and report directly to the Director of Alumni Engagement. The Head of Alumni Programming is accountable for designing, and implementing an alumni content programme that strengthens alumni connections to each other and the University through the use of a segmented, data-driven approach and targeted engagement.

This is a new role, reporting to the Financial Controller, which will lead a high-performing team of 4, and manage the statutory returns, external financial audits, financial reporting, and the balance sheet. The Deputy Financial Controller will produce high-quality financial, management, and regulatory reports, and insightful financial control analysis and information essential for strategic decision-making. About the team

Shelter Sheffield provide housing advice and support to people across the city with a focus on emergency homelessness, intensive support for children and families, people experiencing domestic abuse and people with multiple and complex needs. We take a holistic approach to help people deal with interrelated issues that can impact their ability to keep a home.

About the role

You will be the local leader for Shelter’s Community Services, leading a multidisciplinary team in implementing Shelter’s strategy locally, delivering the local response to the housing emergency and empowering the local community in Sheffield to fight for home.

You will take the lead on the delivery of services and contracts to provide consistently high levels of performance, and plan and deliver service development strategies, including seeking business development opportunities that align with our strategic aims, both across Community Services and in partnership with the Lead Solicitor.

As the strategic lead for your locality, you will promote and direct systems change activity, so we better understand what is influencing people’s experience of homelessness and bad housing, and so we have effective plans to influence change.

You will act as an ambassador for Shelter within your region, representing the organisation through media, networks, and local stakeholder engagement.

Alongside this, you will plan and implement resourcing plans for your Hub, including staffing, volunteers, and engaging people with lived experience, and will manage the Hub Leadership team. Ensuring there are multiple and ongoing opportunities for people with lived experience of homelessness and bad housing to be part of Hub development, activities, and learning is a key element of this role, as is upholding and promoting a learning culture with the Hub.

About you

A natural leader, who can inspire, support and motivate individuals, communities, and your own team to advocate for change, you will have a proven working knowledge of homelessness, housing and related issues affecting local communities. You will possess sound experience of managing and delivering contracts, partnerships, and services, and of being involved in implementing and reviewing change management, whilst demonstrating excellent budgeting and financial reporting skills.

The ability to proactively develop and maintain key relationships and having impressive analytical skills to use insight and evidence to present data, manage performance and to identify and implement systems change are vital to this role, as are impressive interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Housing Justice is a Christian charity working to alleviate homelessness in all its forms. We are a friendly and flexible organisation looking for a compassionate leader for our team in Wales. As a bi-national charity we work in partnership with the housing and homelessness sector, refugee and asylum sector, churches, community groups, UK Government, Welsh Government and local government to help provide those experiencing homelessness with a safe and stable home. 

Our work is channelled through a range of initiatives that aim to tackle homelessness in various ways at a grassroots level: Faith in Affordable Housing, Hosting people seeking sanctuary, Citadel, Support for people from Ukraine, and The Winter Night Shelter Network in England. Housing Justice Cymru is at the centre of the Housing sector in Wales and since 2021 we have played a pivotal role in the refugee and asylum sector, leading partnerships in support of the Wales Nation of Sanctuary commitment.

In addition, we seek to influence and bring about change for the benefit of those we serve through partnership, lobbying and networking.

We have an office in London and the Wales Director will travel to London regularly for meetings. This is estimated at an average of once a month. The Wales team is remote and home-based. We take frequent opportunities to meet in person and have a strong team spirit. The Director will encourage cohesive and supportive working practices, leading with transparency and empathy.

Hours: 35 per week

Location: Home working, South Wales based location with the ability to travel regularly for local and national meetings.

About the role

The role of the Director for Wales is to lead the team and the development of the work of Housing Justice throughout Wales. The Director is responsible for ensuring resilient funding for the delivery of existing projects and to develop projects in line with the strategic plan, growing the Charity’s reach to meet homelessness and housing need. They will be a key member of the Senior Management team nationally, developing and spearheading the broader strategic work of Housing Justice. 

About you

We are looking for a self-motivated, committed person ideally with experience of working in the homelessness, housing or charity sectors. We would like someone with excellent leadership skills, who understand the importance of wellbeing and involvement. 

The skills needed for the role include effective partnership working, business planning, project management and service delivery across multiple functions, as well as financial management skills including budgeting and delivery of cost and income targets.

Finally, we are looking for someone who is committed to making a difference and passionate about supporting people to thrive across Wales in a safe home and community.
