About the role
This is a full-time post working 37.5 hours per week in our purpose-built residential services.
As part of a team of 8 you will be supporting young people with learning disabilities and autism that may display challenging behaviour having moved into their first home. We are looking for creative and supportive people with a can-do attitude.
As Deputy Manger you will support the team to enable individuals to live the life they choose: to make choices, to express themselves and live as independently as possible. Your leadership skills, coaching, team guidance and support will assist individuals to run their own lives as much as possible. Through good leadership the team will feel valued and well supported.
You will be a frontline supervisor, supporting the manager to effectively manage a team of staff to deliver person centred, specialist services.
You will need to have a sound knowledge of person-centred planning, rota planning and staff management/development. We would like to hear from you if you are a committed, flexible and enthusiastic team player who is able to coach and mentor a team of support workers. You will be IT literate and able to undertake some administration duties.
You will need to have had proven experience of supervising and line managing staff, as well as experience of coordinating and planning a range of activities. You will have an awareness of total communication approaches which include: verbal communication, objects of reference, hand under hand, hand over hand, communication boards, observations and unrecognised individual communication modes.
The successful candidate will have experience of dealing with challenging situations and of advocating in the best interests of individuals.
