About the role
At Barnet Residential services we support adults over the age of eighteen who have a range of complex needs, including sensory loss and learning disabilities.
We’re looking for caring people who have the empathy and patience to positively focus on the people we support. You will be supporting the people who live here to participate in a full and active life at home and in the local community. This will include everything from basic domestic tasks such as laundry and shopping, to exciting activities like swimming, gardening, cooking, music, art and other things that the people we support enjoy. You will also provide varying levels of support with personal care tasks.
We also have casual (bank) opportunities in this area attracting an hourly rate of £9.79.
Sense is known for our excellent training and development, so for some vacancies, previous personal care experience is not needed. However, you do need to have empathy and be enthusiastic, patient, compassionate and caring so that you can positively interact with the people we support.
Support Worker posts require excellent communication, and team working skills, literacy and an awareness of disability needs. It is desirable that you are able to swim and support people in the water and hold a valid UK drivers licence to support users on day trips and community activities.
Flexibility is needed as working times do vary and may include evenings, weekends and sleep-ins.
For everyone living with complex disabilities. For everyone who is deafblind. Sense is here to help people communicate and experience the world.
We believe that no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, should be isolated, left out, or unable to fulfil their potential.
Sense has a proven record of offering high quality, pioneering services.
