Job description

Severn Wye are looking for a friendly, outgoing individual to work with Herefordshire households and communities to relieve fuel poverty and champion energy efficiency.

This role represents a partnership between Severn Wye and Herefordshire Council, and will work with the social prescribing team and Talk Community Hubs across the county and from home.

The role is focussed on supporting and educating vulnerable households to help lift them out of fuel poverty. As Community Outreach Officer you will support consumers through the process of securing a better energy deal, managing and reducing debt, accessing funding and engaging with smart technology. This will ensure that vulnerable citizens are much more engaged in their energy use and make good decisions in relation to how to use and manage it — ultimately putting money back in their pockets and improving their health and wellbeing. This is a hugely rewarding role, working with people overwhelmed by the world of energy to help them find clarity. You will be a positive, optimistic friend to people who are struggling to manage their energy and finances on their own.

You will receive referrals from other services to offer advice over the phone and at home visits, as well as providing advice at appointments and drop-in surgeries. This post requires a satisfactory DBS check and appropriate references, but if this is a role you see yourself thriving in, we’d love to hear from you.

Severn Wye is an equal opportunities employer and an exciting expanding sustainability charity.  Applications for this role are to be made via our application form on our website.
