We’re looking for a client-focused individual with recent experience of working in the housing or homelessness advice and/or support sector to join us as an Advice, Support and Guidance Worker and play a key role as part of a vital partnership contract.

As part of our London Hub team you will be working on our STAR Partnership contract. This is a pan-London housing and homelessness project working with Londoners over the age of 25 which aims to help up to 5,000 people a year in partnership with Thames Reach, Stonewall Housing and St Mungo’s with Shelter the lead partner.  This service is delivered through a mixture of channels including telephone, face-to-face and digital.

About the Role
The challenge here is to deliver a professional, impartial, pragmatic, high quality and outcome focused advice and casework service to clients while working to Shelter and Specialist Quality Marked standards. Specifically, where a client has been identified as having additional support needs, you’ll help them access relevant services, with a focus on improving their physical and mental health, working both one-to-one and with groups. Conducting interviews in order to establish and agree clients’ needs, providing advocacy on their behalf to other agencies/authorities, writing and implementing case plans and supporting our housing advisers plus the inclusion of volunteers and a trainee – all are aspects of this interesting and varied role.

About you

Used to working with vulnerable people and/or people with multiple and complex needs, you also have experience of working within a safeguarding framework. A proven ability to prepare, plan and deliver briefings and/or group work sessions and work effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders, both statutory and non-statutory is important too. Proactive, results-driven and very much a team player, you respond quickly and positively to change and are not afraid to challenge the status quo when necessary. What’s more, you’re proficient using case management systems, Microsoft Office applications, internet and email etc., while the ability to type is also preferred.
