How to apply
Do you have an impressive track record gained delivering innovative, successful and, ideally, mass participation fundraising events? Then join Shelter as a Bespoke Events Manager and you could soon be using your creative flair and imagination to help Shelter stand out in the events organising field.
A home is a fundamental human need, as essential as education or healthcare. Yet millions of people across Britain struggle on a daily basis with homelessness, bad housing conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the threat of eviction. So, we are striving for change — with individuals, in communities, across society – and leading the way to a safe home. We need ambitious, best-in-class individuals who are passionate about our cause to join us at this exciting time. This is your chance to play a part in the fundamental change we are striving to achieve.
Our Community and Events team prides itself on developing and delivering creative, innovative partnerships, products and events while ensuring excellent customer service. A high value challenge events portfolio includes Shelter’s own flagship events - Vertical Rush, Urban Rush and SleepWalk. We also support, develop and promote successful community fundraising initiatives and deliver an ambitious special events portfolio of high-profile cultural events and festival partnerships. Your challenge will be to maximise cross-team and cross-divisional income opportunities.
About the Role
You’ll be joining just as we’re launching a new, exciting growth strategy and investment in the Events Team. So, as well as being responsible for uplifting and delivering existing events such as Vertical Rush, Urban Rush and Sleep Walk, we’ll rely on you to research and deliver new, innovative events solutions to help grow and broaden our portfolio. Working closely with colleagues to help develop new strategies and launch events that will meet long-term income targets will be important too. And, when it comes to developing relationships with external agencies, funders and other partners and monitoring progress against plans and budgets, again, we'll count on you.
A relevant challenge event fundraising background is a must, as is project or event management experience and a proven ability to handle event logistics and ‘on the day’ event delivery. And, if you have a flair for marketing, even better. Used to meeting income targets, managing a budget and effortlessly planning and managing multiple events comes naturally to you. What's more, you’re committed to providing excellent customer service and supporter care and enjoy working with internal and external partners, service providers and agencies. Experience of line management would be useful too, as, depending on the needs of the team, you may be responsible for one direct report. What is for certain is that you work well as part of a team that regularly delivers successful projects and achieves targets.
Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to us for help. We’re here so no one has to fight bad housing or homelessness on their own.
